I've gone to plays all over this country and while I am in South Bend was surprised at the class of this theatre. I've seen one okay there and was mesmerized at the quality of show as well as the atmosphere of this historical place. Parking is. Ample at the local businesses surrounding the theater. A short drive can get to any of the fabulous restaurants in the area.

Thank you for your amazing review! We were very proud when the Morris received the League of Historic American Theatres "2015 Outstanding Theater Award." The Morris truly is a gem in downtown South Bend!

Mezzanine seats are what we like best. Ushers are very helpful. Lovely setting for entertaining events. Have seen wonderful shows of different genres there. Sound is good.

You have to see this ornate and historic theater when you are in South Bend. Even if you don't see a show, it's worth a look see. I saw Wicked there with my mother and it was a fabulous experience. The stage has obviously been updated continually to accomodate a big Broadway show. The sound was excellent, seating comfortable and there are some excellent restaurants within a very short walk in downtown South Bend including lunch at the South Bend Chocolate Cafe, Dinner at Cafe Navarre or LaSalle Grill. Parking is close and easily walkable.

Thank you for your wonderful review. The theatre originally opened as the Palace Theatre in 1922 and was designed with many different styles of architecture to give people a feeling as if they were taking a trip to Europe. The Morris and stage completed a major renovation in 2000 to accommodate large Broadway shows.

This is a beautiful venue but the add on's increase a ticket by about $20. There is the "convenience fee" and the "historical preservation fee" and if you order on line there is another fee. Add these to an already high price of a ticket depending on the performance you want to see and it really adds up!
There is really no bad seat. Even the 3rd balcony has a great view of the stage, but bring your opera glasses for a closer look. The acoustics are great and there is no trouble hearing wherever you sit.
The restoration of this beautiful building is something to see.

Thank you for your comments. The Morris is a rental facility which promoters rent to present their show. The promoter sets the cost of the base ticket price for their show. The Box Office is a service to promoters to assist in selling tickets for their shows and this money is transferred to the promoter.

The Internet Convenience Fee covers the extra cost of the ticket web site, mailing tickets, etc. Customers have the option to purchase tickets directly at the Morris Box Office Mon-Fri 12pm-5pm to avoid this fee.

The Capital Improvement Fund Fee was established to pay major maintenance such as roof repair and upgrades of the theater. The Morris is owned by the City of South Bend and regular daily maintenance is handled by an operating budget granted through the City of South Bend Common Council. Capital improvements are paid by people who attend events at the Morris.
