My partners Aunt was celebrating her ninetieth birthday on the outskirts of this village (Hanbury). In anticipation of an alcoholic afternoon and facing a 150 mile drive home this hotel offered the solution to a problem. I booked for two nights. Our arrival was late afternoon, which allowed us to view some of the surrounding area which is very rural with some very pleasant restful scenery and absolute silence except for the birds. We decided to eat in the hotel which proved to be an excellent choice, service was very good as was our Scallops and main course with a delicious desert. The dining room was busy which was surprising for such a rural area. Our room was very tastefully decorated, with an en-suite, bed very comfortable, room very clean. As this is a very old building it is a slightly odd shape following the course of the road. Although this is a through route we were never bothered by traffic noise and had a comfortable night.
Breakfast was served in the dining room with the same pleasant cheerfulness and helpfulness that all the staff exhibited during our stay. We expect to go back at some time next year.
