Top Notch is the place to go by yourself or with your family. Prices are low for what you get. Portions are large. They have the best Greek chicken and I am comparing them to three restaurants in Greektown in Chicago. The French dip has a huge portion of beef which has no gristle or fat. The lasagna is great. Salads are unimaginative but always fresh. The dinner rolls are ordinary but never bad. Go to Top Notch if you want large quantities of good food at a low price.

Their idea of a Fresh Fruit Plate was opening a can of nasty fruit cocktail and pouring it. The restaurant itself is lacking in cleanliness and service. Don't bother unless you are drunk and need somewhere to sober up in the middle of the night.

Checked TripAdvisor for a Sunday dinner while traveling through Indiana and we decided to eat at a Top Notch restaurant. The restaurant decor felt like it stepped out of the 1960's. The menu was far too extensive with multiple choices to be made to order a meal. I had tomato juice instead of soup, cole slaw as my salad, walleye pike for the entre, baked for my potato selection, corn for the vegetable and rice pudding for the desert. The tomato juice and cole slaw weren't cold, the walleye was dry; the half cob of corn was dry and starchy, the rice in the pudding wasn't cooked through and the whipped cream on top was gritty with sugar crystals. The baked potato, however, was hot and delicious. No restaurant kitchen can do everything well and, with a menu this extensive, everything suffers. At $14.99 my meal was quite a bargain but only the potato was top notch.
