“shabby not shabby chic”

very disappointed the bungalow was tired and grubby, urine stains on toilet seat, broken floor tiles in kitchen area, the baking dishes were not just dirty but rusty, a circle of bricks on the garden floor represented the BBQ which still had remains of previous guests BBQ.
old tins of paint left under the bungalow plus a rotted sheepskin rug which stank, and a box of ceramic tiles left on decking area. We left Mermaids cave after 30 minutes and booked into a nearby hotel

Thank you for your review. Unfortunately you did not contact us on our direct mobile number that we give to all of our guests but left without staying. The house keeping team where sent directly as soon as we heard from your husband to our property. They took photos and sent them to us directly. The bungalow was spotless inside and out. The circle of bricks is not the BBQ but a fire pit where our guests have mini bonfires and sit around enjoying the calm and peaceful evenings. There is a BBQ and this is stored safely. The ceramic tiles are for anyone to enjoy arts and crafts. We understand that not everyone likes to do this on holiday but the majority of our guests like this little touch. We encourage our guests to call us straight away if they have any issues whatsoever and anything can be rectified immediately. As this was not the case you did not allow us to help you. If the bungalow was in the state you had described we are sure our wonderful guests who have stayed and thoroughly enjoyed there holidays over the years would have informed us. We are sorry that you did not stay with us as we know that you would have had a brilliant time.

Me and my boys had a very pleasant stay here. We were glad to find that the pictures didn't do this place the justice. The view was lovely... My boys loved the beach (Mostly pebble)that was only on the doorstep. Such a relaxing place yet Lots to do around the area.

“nearly perfect..but not quite”

The position on the beach was great (birds and sunsets) but what should have been a lovely view (the main selling point) was completely marred by a vehicle, assumed abandoned by the owners, at the top of the beach. I felt very cheated by that. The interior was well stocked, clean and bright, the living area larger than expected but at the expense of the 2 bedrooms which are very small, especially the main bedroom. It was so hot that week it was impossible to both sleep in there comfortably & you couldn't leave the window open due to the noise from the very busy road (isn't it 30mph!). The cafe at Walden's is lovely but limited opening so need a car for eating out. A pleasant but long walk into Whitstable along beach. It could be almost perfect with a few changes.

Thanks for your review. The car has been removed so the views are as beautiful as ever (We use this for towing boats and jet-ski's up and down the beach) Sorry to hear the bedrooms where not big enough for your stay, the pictures are not taken with a wide angle camera so they do reflect there true size. The weather you experienced was the hottest ever and this was out of our control. We hope this benefited you through the day we are sorry you felt uncomfortable at night. The road that the bungalow is set beside does have a set speed limit of 30mph. It was a shame that on this particular stay you encountered someone not sticking to this, this makes us cross as well wherever we are in the country. We are glad that you did overall enjoy your stay with us and we look forward to welcoming you back soon.

“So relaxing.....”

We stayed at Mermaids Cave for two nights but really would have loved to have stayed longer. The bungalow is impeccably clean, stylishly decorated in a seaside theme and had everything you could have possibly wanted. It overlooks the beach which although not the prettiest still made it a lovely location. Very private with a lovely decked area to relax on. Although we didn't have the best weather I can imagine that if you had the best of the summer there's probably no place I would rather have been. The bungalow felt so homely, I will definitely be back.
