“Trallwyn Cottages - we've stayed in all of them over the years - brilliant!”
Reviewed 28 November 2014 for a stay in November 2014

We have been coming to Trallwyn for many years now and have stayed in all of the cottages and the yurt over that time. each one has it's own special feeling but they are all cosy and well equipped. On arrival there is a fire either set or even lit for us making it very welcoming. Trallwyn is a quite peaceful place perfect for reviving the batteries. We would (and have) recommended it to friends and have also brought friends with us. Every year we talk about going somewhere else but always come back to Trallwyn and for teh past two years we have even been twice. That says it all!!!

“Definitely not my idea of a winter break”
Reviewed 9 November 2014 for a stay in November 2014

The cowshed is very pretty, but it felt as if it hadn't been used for a long time. it was cold, and the storage heaters didn't kick in until the second day (should have been put on in advance). The beds were damp, and the bedding was poor quality , I had to sleep in my onesie with the hood up! We certainly couldn't face the shower, which is in the porch.
The surrounding countryside is beautiful, but we were so uncomfortable that we cut our holiday short by a day. It's part of a group of cottages, and the whole place had a neglected and unloved feel (for example the old toilet dumped by the logpile!) A great shame, as it seems from the comments that it's been a nice place to stay in the past.

Liked best: The surrounding countryside and mountain views. It's a good place to explore from.
Liked least: We expected better for the price, similar to others we've stayed in locally.

Management Response

I am so sorry you found the Cowshed lacking, it is such a shame as most people love it, it is true that out of season it is good to have the storage heaters and the rayburn going, and most people also light the woodstove in the evening. Unfortunately as I heard nothing from you in terms of an email while you were there, I was unable to offer you another property at the time. As I was away at the time you stayed I only heard reports on how wet it has been, I am sorry you felt it was damp. The other people staying that week seem to have enjoyed their cottage stays. And the previous family stayed the whole week of half term in the Cowshed and only left just 3 days before you arrived. I am sorry it wasn't up to your expectations.
