Occasion: 4 adults and 2 children (ages 5 and 8) for dinner on a Saturday night at 5:30 pm
Overall: GREAT location in Saint Charles. The vibe is downtown Chicago, and it definitely gets packed on a Saturday night. Being there early allowed us to enjoy a 2-hour dinner with small children. They do a good job of catering to children (special menu/drinks/chopsticks). Would NOT recommend children after 8 pm on a Saturday.
Service: Very good. Our drinks were refilled often and our server checked in with us frequently.
Food: Thoroughly enjoyed the Oyster Shooter w/Quail Egg, as well as the Uni Shooter. The Flaming Hamachi and Dragon Fire were the highlight rolls of the evening. We had boat of assorted sashimi and enjoyed it all (Escolar, Hamachi, Nama Sake, Fatty Tuna, Fatty Salmon, etc.). Very fresh. We skipped dessert to go for ice cream at a local dessert shop.
SKIP the Golden Lobster roll. It was bland... not bad, but hardly any flavor at all. We were sorely disappointed, especially because it was so expensive. NOT worth the price.
Ambiance: Downstairs has more traditional tables for dining, as well as a bar area. The upstairs also has a few traditional dining tables, but more lounge seating for those out on the scene to drink and nibble on items.
This is my 2nd time here and I will go whenever I'm in the area.
