Stayed here for one night over the Easter weekend, given the rate I paid and the impressive website I had high expectations but sadly none of them were met. We had a very disappointing stay and overall felt our experience can be summed up as over promised and under delivered. Everything from décor to food, service and facilities fell below our expectations. I have been in contact with the hotel to go into detail about our stay and an overpayment issue; they have dealt with it efficiently and conceded they are aware of some of the issues we highlighted. They inform me the hotel is undergoing staged refurbishment. Given my love of old estate house I hope those improvements follow through and the estate continues to serve the tourist industry long into the future. It has all the basic elements to be great but does need investment in both property and service. Sadly I won’t be returning or recommending in its current form.

Dear 'MissJen',

Thank you for your review, and also for the email communication with myself post departure, and once again, we apologise for any disappointment experienced whilst here at Faithlegg.

We think it is a little unfair of you to say none of your expectations were met, and given that you were comparing us to a 14 bedroom boutique hotel, guest expectations should be very different when opting to stay at a property such as ours, which consists of an 82 bedroom hotel, leisure centre, spa, golf course, clubhouse, pro shop, tennis courts, playground, mini-golf, plus numerous self-catering apartments and houses.

We can assure you our renovations and refurbishment plans are being done very sympathetically and in line with the grandeur one would expect of such a wonderful old manor house in a beautiful estate setting, and we are confident we will successfully continue to serve the tourist industry for many decades to come.

It is unfortunate to hear you will not be returning, and would not recommend us, however we appreciate we are not for everyone. Thank you for mentioning how efficiently we dealt with your issues, and we wish you all the best with your future travels.

Kindest regards,
Julia - Guest Relations

Here in Faithlegg now. Breakfast available until 10.30am but builders began hammering in room below us at 8am! Sounds like they're knocking down a concrete wall. Oh, now they're drilling 9.20am .... Disgraceful!

Dear 'DPMCG_9',

We understand how you felt inclined to post this review in the heat of the moment, however we're happy we could sit down with you and apologise for the disturbance prior to you departing the hotel earlier this week. We're pleased you left the hotel satisfied with the resolution, and hopefully you received the follow-up email sent to yourself the very same day.

Renovations are currently taking place at the hotel, and unfortunately there is no ideal time to refurbish and improve guest rooms and facilities without there being some form of disturbance, however we are managing it as best as possible, and with as little effect upon the guest experience as is feasible.

Looking forward to welcoming you back again soon.

Warm regards,
Julia - Guest Relations

My second visit to Faithlegg house was every bit as enjoyable as the first. While the modern extension rooms are basic enough, they are comfortable and clean. The main house however is something special. It has character and the staff are top class, helpful, and polite. I have eaten in the restaurant and the food is excellent. If you are a golfer, ensure to play a round. It's a fine golf course and not too difficult. Also, if active, try one of the three walks around the estate. The longest, the Minaune walk took us 50 minutes and included a good steep climb up a wooded mountain.

Room Tip: Try get a room in the main house.

Dear 'Dick2243',

Thank you for taking the time to review Faithlegg after enjoying a return visit to the resort. We're delighted you enjoyed your second visit just as much as your first, and hopefully there will be a third visit lined up in the not-too-distant future!

We're pleased the character of the main house has enamoured you somewhat, and we really appreciate your lovely feedback regarding the staff, food and golf course. The walks within (and surrounding) the estate are a fantastic way to burn off some calories after enjoying a hearty breakfast here at the hotel, whilst also taking in the beautiful local scenery.

Looking forward to welcoming you back for another 'excellent value' break here at Faithlegg.

Kindest regards,
Julia - Guest Relations

My boyfriend and I stayed in Faithlegg at the beginning of April and had a really lovely time. We didn't quite get the 'sunny south-east' experience as it poured rain for three days straight but that was just a lovely excuse to stay in the hotel all day! We had afternoon tea on the first day and it was lovely, really nice selection of savoury and sweet treats- I just thought the scones were a bit small, and the rhubarb dessert had a plastic teaspoon in it which might seem small but was really unnecessary and brought down the tone of the whole thing!
The reception staff were really obliging and ordered taxis etc for us very efficiently. It costs about 20euro to get into Waterford from the hotel.
We also tried out the spa which was fabulous. Not your typical destination spa experience but still lovely, and they also had some very good value deals on massages while we were there. The leisure centre and thermal suite are both lovely, and not too busy which was nice.
We had dinner in the Roseville Rooms on the second night which was delicious with excellent service. The wine and alcohol in the bar was extortionate though, at 7.50/8euro for a glass of wine and at least 6euro for a measure of spirits you'll be watching what you're drinking!
Breakfast was excellent with a great choice of continental and cooked options. My boyfriend was particularly impressed with the jar of Nutella beside the pastries!!

We will definitely be back to Faithlegg- it's a real treat!

Dear 'ahshur',

Thank you for taking the time to post a review after enjoying a 'luxury couple's getaway' here at Faithlegg last week.

We're sorry we couldn't offer you the 'sunny south-east experience' hoped for, but we're thrilled to hear it didn't dampen your spirits, and you enjoyed your excuse to stay in the hotel all day (who needs an excuse?)!

We appreciate your lovely words regarding the food, the staff and the spa, and we're thrilled the Nutella hit the spot with your boyfriend! It's the little things in life ...

Looking forward to welcoming you back again one day.

Kindest regards,
Julia - Guest Relations
