If historic inns are your rainbow, this is your pot of gold.

We stayed overnight here and dined repeatedly. Not only was everything exceptionally clean and enjoyable, but the overnight rooms are some of the most affordable in town. The staff was helpful and friendly, too.

The total experience is highly recommended.

Hotel Nauvoo is a sweet "little house on prairie" type experience -- an actual key to open door, Nana's quilts on lumpy beds, noisy air cond in window, slow plumbing (be prepared to sprint for the toilet plunger), and dated decor. However, it provides clean linens on the beds, a clean room, and free wi-fi. The towels were thin and felt like sandpaper but they were, at least, absorbent. The people were very nice. The restaurant downstairs is too expensive -- ($15/pp) too much for american/cowboy food, meat n potatoes. Nauvoo shuts down at 6/7 p.m. so eat before you get here or you'll have to splurge on the pricey buffet downstairs.

Thank you for your comments. They're very important to us.

We apologize for any inconvenience that you experienced during your stay with us.

Even though we're a restored 1840's inn, a plumbing problem isn't something that our guests normally experience. Our maintenace staff has responded to avoid any such problem in the future.

Also, we pride ourselves in providing the highest quality mattresses to help ensure a good nights sleep, so we have evaluated every one of our beds to ensure that they meet that standard.

Please give us the opportunity to provide you with the finest experience on your next visit.

We really enjoyed our stay. The room was large and easily accommodated my family of seven. The decor did a great job of feeling like the 1800's or early 1900's. This was our first visit to Nauvoo and so we were very interested in seeing some of the rich history displayed throughout the hotel. Beautifully done and tasteful pictures and nick nacks were interesting to find and look at.
The buffet meal was quite a hit for my crew and I was pleased with the quality of some of the dishes. We really liked the sticky buns!
My only complaint might be the obvious lack of any pictures of the Mormon temple or anything indicating the Mormon influence in the decor. A small sign out front greeted us that this was an old Mormon hotel or home but nothing inside would ever support it. Perhaps absolute neutrality is the goal, but it almost begged explanation when less than a block away from the huge and gorgeous temple.
Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would do it again.

Positives: charming and quaint, friendly staff, good buffet in the restaurant on Saturday nights. Negatives: Cramped room and had to travel 13 into Iowa for Sunday evening meal - Nauvoo 'eateries' closed. Worth a visit though

the bedroom was very, very small - we could hardly pass each other in the room. There was nowhere at all to hang our clothes (no wardrobe or even hooks on the door or wall). We could only find pizza to eat on the Sunday - everywhere else was closed. The hotel buffet on the Saturday was good value in that there was plenty of food but of average quality. There is no coffee making facility in the rooms but a flask of hot water is on a table on the landing but was empty and I had to go to the restaurant to get it filled (no staff around). The hotel does not do breakfast either so how can it be called a hotel? It isn't even a bed and breakfast place let alone a hotel you have to buy breakfast separately from a place over the road! it is a room only arrangement where the company running the hotel franchise the food provision out to another supplier and you can't pay for your food on your hotel bill because of this arrangement

Thank you for your comments. They're very important to us.

We have researched our records of your stay and determined that you stayed in room 108 in our 1840's Inn, which is definitely one of our smallest rooms. It is also the least expensive hotel room in Nauvoo, but we're proud of it and keep it extra clean and cozy. And, we're sorry you somehow missed the hanging bar for clothing, but it's there. We also have much larger rooms, and some in between.

We may have not yet re-stocked our hospitality table at the time you used it. If that is the case, we apologize, and in direct response to your comments, we have placed coffee / hot drink makers in each of our rooms at the Hotel Inn.

We do offer breakfast 7 days per week at a 25% discount for our Hotel Inn and Motel guests, at our cafe just across the street from the Inn. We really don't understand your comment about franchising out to another supplier. We have no franchise, and the same suppliers at both locations. We have been the same family-run business for over 60 years.

You indicated that Nauvoo is a very small town. We can't do anything about that, but most folks really enjoy the laid-back atmosphere in Nauvoo. While touring Nauvoo and taking in all that it has to offer, most of which is free, if you want to visit a bigger town with more services , you can get to one in about 15 to 20 minutes.

When you're more in the mood for all of the many unique and pleasant experiences that Nauvoo has to offer, we would be delighted to personally assist you in any way possible.
