I had a hard time trying to write this review because there is so much to tell.

The lodge itself is just wonderful. It was built in 1933 during the depression and it is magnificent. Look at 5he pictures online to get a sense of it.

The patio is large and has many tables and chairs to use. It overlooks the Mississippi river and the lodge grounds. Just beautiful.

The winery is located in the hotel and. Has many local wines and a full bar. Prices a reasonable. We bought bottles of wine and they provide glasses to take to the patio, the lodge great room, or your hotel room. It also has a patio to sit at.

After a chicken dinner we sat n the lodge great room and played games until very late.

The restaurant takes reservations and has an excellent fried chicken dinner.

We a got a great rate for the hotel of $99. The room was nice, clean, and spacious. We had a queen room and the beds were queen size not the mini queens some hotels have. Bed and pillows were comfortable. However there were a few issues for us personally. There are not enough lights in the room. There a a pool lamp in the corner behind a sitting chair that did not work. Upon investigation it was not plugged up in. And there was not a outlet anywhere near it. Also there was only one nightstand which presented a problem for the C-Pap machines. We had to move the ottoman over to use.
The bathroom vanity is very small and holds next to nothing.

With that being said it is a good room for the price.

The overall appearance of the Lodge and Guest Rooms were Excellent. Cleanliness was terrible. The guest room smelled awful and the room service left half dead bugs around the room when we first arrived.

The rooms are in need of updating, breakfast was really high for what was offered & food wasn't fresh and hot. Furniture was worn down, Looking out over the area, it was beautiful. Rooms were not cleaned very well.

We visited here for a short spring get away. It was a birthday celebration. We visited here to get some peace and quiet. It was a romantic getaway, if you like quiet and rustic settings. This place has that old flair to it. Exactly what you would anticipate from a state park lodge. Our room was clean, but a little dated and old. WE turned the couch around and opened the windows to look at the Illinois river flowing past it.

The lodge has a large chess board with life size pieces. It has an indoor pool (but we did not partake of it so we cannot be a resource to the quality). It also has a restaurant. The Sunday brunch was good but not great. Overall we enjoyed our quiet time we spent here on an April weekend.

This lodge has rooms equipped for a couple all the way up to a family with kids. It is situated on the GORGEOUS surroundings of Grafton, IL with stunning views of the Mississippi. The cabins are stone and wood and are decorated beautifully. We stayed with our 3 kids and plan to come back for a couple's weekend. The beds are comfy, the rooms are pretty spacious, and the kids LOVED the bunk beds. We stayed in a cabin room, but the lodge also has "hotel" like lodge rooms. This is a great place to stay, eat, hike, ride horses, and enjoy the pool. Another favorite were the "big games" in the lodge. You can play life sized chess, giant checkers, or huge connect 4! The kids LOVED them!
