We had originally planned to stop for Cindo de Mayo at Lalo's Mexican Restaurant which is in the same mall - Carillon Square - in Glenview, but Lalo's was already packed with people. We walked over several stores and walked in to Foodstuffs and found that they had a number of specials for Cinco de Mayo. We decided to pick up some stuff and head home. We grabbed a small container of black bean chili and grilled pineapple salsa. The enchilada casserole that they had also looked good, so we got some of that, along with mashed potatoes and butternut squash. The prices were reasonable and the staff was very friendly, helpful & efficient. The food tasted very good when we ate it at home.

I have to say that Foodstuffs has terrific food. Made-to-order salads and sandwiches, terrific grab-and-go items. The quality is top notch. I do feel that $9 is a bit much for a chicken salad sandwich. But I must say the sandwich was really, really good. I've been there 3x now and although I find the pricing a little high, the food quality is also high. So it's a great option when you cannot stomach the thought of high fat, high sodium fast food, but don't have a lot of time for lunch.

A wall of vintage eggbeaters; a shelf of vintage toasters; a friendly, helpful staff; and delicious food. Eat inside or out (8 tables on the sidewalk in front of the store) -- or take out.
Other locations in Glencoe, Lake Forest and Evanston.

This place has a unique selection of delicious desserts and entree items that look as good as they taste. NOT for everyday, as they are quite expensive.
