“A lovely restaurant for a special night.”
Reviewed 9 April 2012

The evening was delightful All the employees were top notch from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. The view from the dining tables was wonderful! The well manicured lawn, gardens, tree covered hills and the view of the Mississippi was beautiful. We ordered an appetizer of artisan cheese, slices of apple and cranberry/apple compote. Our dinner salads were very attractive and fresh. They were served with freshly baked bread and balsamic and chive butter. For dinner we had a delicious rib eye steak cooked perfectly and a slightly tough Beef Wellington. The vegetable of the day was a serving of cold well-cooked beets. Although we both like beets usually neither of us thought much of the preparation.
This is wonderful dining experience for a relaxing and romantic evening.

Everything from the food to the service surpassed our expectations! Beautiful views, delicious food, amazing personal service (we got to tour the kitchen), could not have imagined a better meal. Truly a hidden gem right in our back yard! We will be back many times.

“Wine Lovers "Cork to Fork" Dinner Soooo Disappointing!”
Reviewed 28 March 2012

Our group of girls was so excited to join the "Cork to Fork" progressive dinner on Friday, March 23rd for the Wine Lovers Weekend in Galena. It started out at Jamie's Wine Studio (our favorite place in Galena!) for wine and apps, which were great, so we were looking forward to a delicious dinner at GoldMoor. Unfortunately, it was a horrible disappointment. The salad was bitter, so no one we saw actually ate it. We had been told the entree would be Beef Bourguignon, but it actually appeared to be (very expensive) Beef Stroganoff. Tiny chunks of dry beef with a completely tasteless and greasy sauce, served over egg noodles. Awful and, again, people were just picking at it. Because it was Lent, a couple people at our table had requested a fish dish. At first, I was wishing I had order that, but the description they had been given of what would be served was, again, not what was actually provided. When the servers brought their plates to the table, we could smell a strong fishy aroma...and we were seated clear a large table. One of the women said the fish was inedible and asked the server to take it back. I was totally shocked that not only did they fail to offer her a different entree from their menu, but when she asked for a credit because she had literally nothing to eat the entire dinner, they gave her a hard time about it. The service was mediocre (perhaps because gratuity was already included?), and we had to ask repeatedly for a second glass of wine.
I see positive postings about this restaurant, but every person at our table agreed we would never go there again. What we had thought would be a wonderful dinner was a complete disappointment, so we ended up paying $69 for wine tasting and apps at Jamie's (very fun and tasty) and a slice of cake at DeSoto (OK, but no wine and the experience definitely marred by the fact that they vacuumed the room as we finished).

“Outstanding”
Reviewed 27 March 2012

The food was amazing, the service was terrific, the people were great and the wine pairing was excellent. You don't always get what you pay for but here you do. Every year for the past 4 years I've been returning and it has always been rewarding.
