The Website for The Home Place enticed us to take a chance. We liked the quiet and isolation on a ridgetop overlooking a wooded valley. The heated outdoor jacuzzi was a big hit....as were the robes. The craftsmanship of the Brimeyer Cabin was very well thought and executed.
However at $180. night we did not expect a cabin full of beetles, flies and bugs.... everywhere! , worn (rustic?) uncomfortable couches with cushions covering layers of dead bugs and old food, a wood stove that leaked smoke no matter how it was adjusted, a microwave that was not cleaned in quite some time, and coffeemakers that took over an hour to brew a pot.
The provided "breakfast" was a package of English muffins and a pitcher of orange juice.
The immediate surroundings were littered with junk trucks, trailers, and construction machery and supplies., out of character with what could have been a scenic location. My wife and I have stayed at scores of cabins, country B&B's, and the like, but we were both very disappointed at the condition of this Home Place. Although not exactly "Terrible"; at $180. a night in the off-season, we were very very disappointed, and felt the website misrepresented the property.
