“Fabulous location!”
Reviewed 31 August 2012

We usually stay at Homewood Suites which is a couple of blocks away but it was fully booked for the 2 nights we had in Chicago this trip. We chose this hotel based on location and price and were not disappointed. That said, our room was tiny - a real squeeze for 2 adults, 1 child and 3 suitcases! We used the room to sleep & shower and spent the rest of our time out and about so the lack of space was not a huge problem. Breakfast came from Dunkin Donuts across the street. The biggest drawback to this hotel was that our room was directly opposite the lifts which had a loud bell that we heard every time the lift stopped on our floor - day and night!

A few tips on location [corner of St. Clair & Ohio]...
1. The free trolley bus to Navy Pier stops 1 block from this hotel on St. Clair & Illinois.
2. Easy transit to Lincoln Park, including the Zoo - walk up to Michigan and get the 151 bus.
3. Red Line 'EL' is at Grand & St. Clair - 5 blocks walk - take this to Addison for Wrigley Field.

If you're looking for a plush hotel room and plan to hang out in the room, look elsewhere. If you need an acceptable place to lay your head and the price is right, this is not a bad choice.

Room Tip: We were on the third floor and could get the free Wi-Fi which is supposed to be in the lobby only!

Stayed here on the weekend of 8/24. This is a great location and i was able to get a deal through a travel site. These is a bar and coffee shop in the lobby. The rooms do not have fridges in them. But if you had a small cooler you would not be out of place. The bath room is small and has no vanity to put your toiletries. Our room had a great view. On the 22nd floor there is a longe area and it has a great view of the city. Because of location i woul stay here again.

We flew in from New York on an early flight and arrived before 11am not expecting to be able to check in for a couple of hours but hoping to be able to leave our luggage.

We were pleasantly surprised. Not only did the receptionist check us straight in, she gave us a King room when we had only booked a Queen. It was absolutely great. Loads of space, really comfortable bed and even space for a lounger chair and foot rest. The decor is modern and spotless.

There are 2 things that let the hotel down for me – and stopped me giving it a 5 star review:

1: The elevators – the hotel has 22 floors and 3 elevators. For the 3 nights we were there, an elevator was out of action at some point on each day. This obviously resulted in wait times. A couple of times it was actually quicker to walk down (from the 17th floor!) than wait for an elevator. Not ideal – especially when people have luggage.

2: The bathroom – it wasn’t even on the small side, it was tiny. I’m definitely not tall at 5’3” but the shower head was only just high enough for me. The sink was tiny with no space for toiletries.

That apart, the hotel is really in a great location – all of the main attractions are within a 10 minute walk, the Magnificent Mile, Navy Pier, Millenium Park – you can reach them all on foot.

The free wi-fi in the hotel lobby is a great addition.

Get the elevators and the bathrooms sorted and this is a fabulous hotel. Even as it stands at the minute, for the rate and the location, I dont hesitate to recommend it.

Second time as guest at this hotel. Fantastic rate. Wonderful location and very efficient, helpful, and friendly staff in all service areas. Tasteful modern decor throughout and a rooftop balcony to sit and enjoy. Pleased with room. Able to store bike near front exit and was able to cycle all over the city and also enjoy the ever wonderful 18 mile lakeshore trail. Very few things of any concern that I couldn't overlook to enjoy my stay at such a hard to beat rate. Thanks for offering this very affordable hotel in a city that has just so much of everything to enjoy

Great hotel location, with the right price! I booked this hotel only 2 weeks before my arrival, and the price was fantastic for the location! Also, it was one of the very few hotels left that had 2 beds in the room on the Magnificent Mile, which was also a plus. Very nice hotel, very nice staff and the rooftop is pretty amazing. The room was ok, nothing spectacular, although I did see into some of the other rooms that had been updated, and they looked very nice. But the room doesn't bother me, since I'm rarely in there anyway. The only drawback was that the shower drained verrrrry slowly, almost as if I was taking a shower and bath, haha. All in all, a very good hotel in an awesome location, close to everything you'll need, in walking distance!

Room Tip: I believe the rooms on the higher levels are the ones that are updated, maybe request one of those.

Dear Pski765,

Thank you for your review. We are thrilled that you enjoyed so much your stay, it is really important for us. Our location and our roof top are in fact the hotel’s key points. The maintenance team will take a look into your shower issue. We look forward to welcoming you back soon.

Be well,
