“Not a bad choice”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 June 2012

Good – Room is very nice, kitchen area with full sized fridge, microwave, sink, dishes, glasses, silverware & dishwasher. 2 person kitchen table
Couch & chair with leg rest and coffee table and a nice bed.
The vanity area / bathroom are split which we love and the water pressure is good.
The continental breakfast is great and the person who makes the waffles is amazing! She alone is worth coming back to this hotel.

Bad – only 1 small bottle of shampoo, conditioner, & body lotion that would barely be good enough for one person with a decent amount of hair. Also there was only one small bar of body & face soap, not one for the sink & shower, just one to share.
I spoke to the front desk person who had some brought up to my room on the first night so that was great. The second day after housekeeping was there they removed any extra soap we received the night before plus the open one in our shower so we were back to just one bar. Once again I asked the front desk person to have more brought up again but this time it never happened. After being out most of the day we just used what we had.
Also no local magazines or things to do in the area. Yes you can find some pamphlets around town but it would be nice to have in the lobby at least.

This hotel shares a central lobby with the Springhill Suites so that’s something to consider since it’s the same location and perhaps they meet any requirements you might have.
Also you have to take an elevator up to the lobby to check in, then another elevator to the rooms. This is both good and bad, it is definitely quieter and you don’t hear people in the hallways but it’s also more of a hassle when just running outside for something quick. I do like the privacy so I’m not really complaining about this but I wanted to share for other people.
Do not plan to check in earlier than noon. We didn’t take the hour time change into consideration coming from Michigan and apparently we weren’t the only ones hoping to get in early. They were kind enough to keep our bags for us until a room was ready, along with another 30 or so bags for other guests with the same idea.
We had a corner room on the 15th floor with a view of the street on one side and construction workers on top of the building on the other side. We didn’t pick this place for the view so it’s also not a big deal.

Compared to the Palomar and Omni hotels I’ve been to in this same area the price is about the same, the location is not much different but they had sufficient bathroom items and plenty of information on the immediate area. If you stay here just bring your own soap & shampoo and you should be fine.

Room Tip: We had a corner suite on the 15th floor which was nice. Bring extra bathroom supplies. The area be...

Michigan_Family3,

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us and provide others with helpful feedback. I hope everyone enjoys Chicago as much as it seems that you did. I am glad that we were able to store your luggage so you could get on with some fun. I’m sorry we weren’t able to get you in prior to check in time. We are happy to do that whenever rooms are available.

With regard to the shortage of amenity items and then our failure to replenish them, I am very sorry for that. That is not our practice and I will certainly review this with the Housekeeping staff.

Thank you again for your time and feedback and I hope we have the opportunity to serve you again in the future.

Very accommodating and friendly staff. Great breakfast buffet that changes daily with awesome staff. Fully equipped suite, small rooms but just enough. Pool that was four feet deep at its deepest. Hot tub. Fitness center. There is a small "market" on site and if ur a platinum member u get one item free. We got a bottle of wine! Close to the house of blues, Harry carays, dicks last resort, feefers, and bar Louie. Would definitely stay again.

I'm a Platinum Marriott person and I stay often at RIs by myself and with my family.

This one is in the top 10% for sure.

PROS:

Great location near a ton of restaurants and things to do
Newer hotel
Very friendly staff
Comfy beds
Nice pool
Good breakfast even with large crowds
Close (connected) non valet parking option of $40 / night

CONS:

Can be hard to find a table at breakfast on the weekends
Rooms may be just a bit smaller than the average RI

Room Tip: Get as high of a floor as possible. East facing are the best view.

This hotel was awesome, breakfast was awesome (maybe need one more waffle machine though, was VERY busy easter weekend)
Rooms were clean and excellent
Excellent downtown location, safe neighborhood, staff was very pleasant and helpful, can't say enough nice things about it!

it was a romantic trip (fiance on this trip!! got proposed to on the Willis Tower) but I do have kids and would definitely use this hotel as a family hotel also!

Room Tip: ask for room with a view, the hotel is high and nice view of city buildings

Our last visit was December, 2011. This was our 3rd stay, and we are per-booked for another stay. Friendly staff, especially the breakfast staff. I do agree with other reviewers that you may hear the club next door, but I wonder where you could stay in downtown Chicago where you wouldn't hear noise from the street. Walking distance to the Theater District, Water Tower and State Street shopping (original Marshall Fields). No more than 15 mins to each. I really like this hotel for it's location, value and service. It is a solid 4 star, I won't stay anywhere else, even for less money!
