Description: A warm, rich interior featuring Mahogany paneling & Persian rugs, RL Restaurant houses an art collection that reflects & represents a lifestyle vision of quality, integrity & timelessness - the design & cultural aesthetic of Polo Ralph Lauren. The menu is written daily with core items, some prepared tableside, which reflect the Ralph Lauren "aspirational lifestyle." The food is not based on how exotic the chef can appear with his creativity, but on how finely tuned & balanced are his compositions -- renditions of ideas that have a history on the American Table. ****Please note that reservations are for dining room only. Bar and Patio are first come first serve.******

Great local bistro! The atmosphere was like being in the living room of RL himself. Sophisticated, great art, wood and a touch of Americana theme, small and jam packed all the time! The lobster bisque was awesome! The crab cakes were huge and divine. I had to come back another time and have the famous burger too! A great place to sip on a glass of wine, watch the locals and tourists alike.

Although RL has been around much longer than The Polo Bar in New York, it was a visit to the Polo Bar this past summer that interested me in trying out RL, for comparison's sake.

The restaurants are decorated similarly--very clubby, preppy WASPy Ralph Lauren cocoons. The Polo Bar is more equestrian-centric. The Polo Bar is MUCH harder to get into, although it may be a bit larger. RL was smaller than I thought it would be, although it has outdoor seating in temperate weather, while the Polo Bar is underground. RL has a more extensive menu and is open for lunch, Sunday brunch and dinner, while The Polo Bar is dinner only. Like most of New York, The Polo Bar is more expensive.

We had an early dinner here. Things began inauspiciously; we were seated at a table next to the kitchen and the elevator down to the restrooms, then we were ignored for quite awhile before a rather unfriendly waitress came and took our order. She must have been ready to leave, because she was soon replaced without announcement by a much friendlier and attentive waiter. I ordered the Crab Louis salad and the RL Burger. Both were classic American presentations without fault in taste or presentation. I had ordered the burger at The Polo Bar as well--the taste was similar, but the presentation more elegant (ketchup came in a little silver bucket) and the cost higher. I finished the meal with a very nice key lime pie.

Overall a pretty nice place to try in your in the area and have a hankering for classic American cuisine in preppy surroundings.

Loved the decor. We had lunch and found the food to be average. Service was very good. Tables are very close together as are many in town restaurants.

We were there with our adult children and again enjoyed a fabulous dinner, great service and warm setting. The perch, specialty of the house, was outstanding as well as the Dover sole, scallops, and lobster bisque. This is our favorite as well as many other locals that we knew, who also frequent this establishment. There is nothing to stay except that it is the perfect place to dine, enjoy cocktails, and just kick back and relax. Kudos again to Chris and Abdul.
