“Millennium Park is a spectacular year-round focal point for Chicago”
Reviewed 9 March 2012

Millennium Park has become THE focal point for Chicago. The Kapoor Cloud Gate, or fondly "The Bean", reflects the city and visitors both night and day. The winter ice skating rink is replaced by a lovely outdoor restaurant in the summer. Although in the winter, the twin towers of the Crowne Fountain by Plensa are simply faces of the ethnic diversity of Chicagoans, in the summer, they become a inner city water playground for young and old. Winter events at the Pritzker Pavilion, designed by Gehry, are held on the stage. But in the summer, the audience moves to the seats and to the Great Lawn to hear FREE concerts. Millennium Park is the home of the Grant Park Symphony, whose performances are interspersed with performances by a host of national and international musicians. The Lurie Garden blooms spring, summer, and fall. The park is accessed by 2 unique walkways: the Gehry serpentine walkway and the gradual sloping walkway directly to the Modern Wing of the Art Institute

Millennium Park is a "must" stop for all visitors to Chicago. So on most days, the languages of the world are heard throughout the park. Bridal parties arrive on weekends for photo opportunities. Weddings are celebrated with the Millennium Monument and the city as a backdrop. Workers flock to the park for lunchtime concerts and a place to have a quiet break from work.

Millennium Park is totally accessible, centrally located, close to an endless array of shopping and eating opportunities, near other museums, and has Lake Michigan and Grant Park as neighbors. In fact, it has something for both the citizens of Chicago and visitors to this great city.

“Lovely for a stroll on a nice day”

Always a popular tourist spot. Go and see this, the big bean, ice skate and grab a great sandwich while you tour downtown.

What a progressive feeling place! There are cool sculptures (The Bean) and things to do. There's an amphitheater and grassy area to rest. Lots of people watching!

“Chicago Treasure”

Amazing showplace for our city. The bean has quickly become the most iconic feature of a great architectural city. The bridge, the gardens and the music shell make this free trip well worth your while.
