“Warning stay away!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 April 2012

Stayed there on the night of 4/16/2012 for a business meeting the next morning. Upon arriving we circiled the hotel a few times before finding this place has NO parking. Luckily accross the street was the museum parking lots and there were a few vacancies. Upon getting to my room 909 I found it to be very small but that is expected in down town real estate.

After putting my luggage in my room, I met my coworkers at the bar/restaurant. The bar did not have any standard domestic beers. When my coworkers and I looked at the menu, the prices were shocking. We ordered our food, my coworkers both had the pork cutlet, I ordered the beef loin. I could not believe when our food arrived at the tiny portions. The food was very good, but I left very hungry. Upon returning to the room I went to use the bathroom, this is where is gets worse! Upon lifting the seat, I noticed blood under the front of the seat. After putting the seat back down I notice a line of brown material basically leaving a print of a previous users butt crack.

I would never go there again, and would not recommend this hotel to anyone. I am attaching photos of the nasty toilet seat.

I live and work very close to this hotel and have stayed there on and off due to some work on our home, and found it to be a cool, comfortable hotel. The decor is pretty nice, arty but tasteful. The location is good, especially if you have business/friends in Lincoln Park or want to go to Wrigley. Really convenient to get to the Mag Mile by bus right in front of hotel, but still not ideal location for a shopping trip or somebody who needs to be downtown for business. It's a new hotel, so some kinks are still being worked out: some trouble with the phones; one room we tried had a partially broken headboard on the bed; and the rooftop bar is still under construction, but overall things went very smoothly for a hotel that's only been open for a few weeks. Other downsides: room A/C were window units, not a thermostat, and the elevators are super slow and creaky. Upsides: very comfortable bed; we had drinks at the restaurant downstairs and it has a great atmosphere and delicious drinks (and the food looked awesome); staff was very young but extra friendly and helpful; very stylish. If you're looking for a quieter, only slightly off-the-beaten-path alternative to the Mag Mile hotels, this is a great choice.

This is a new boutique hotel in an old building. Barely a month old, all the decor is new and clean in what we'd describe as retro (1960's) chic. Everyone who works here is extremely friendly and courteous. Our view was great, since we were in the front of the hotel and overlooked Lincoln Park Zoo and the lake. The guest room furnishings are nice but sparse and miniature because the rooms are so TINY (at least our queen standard room on the 10th floor was). If you are using the room for more than sleeping, you may want to ask if there's something larger. We had to get out of each other's way to move through the room. They put a small chest of drawers and the coffee maker in the tiny closet, which made no sense since there was no electrical outlet there and made it impossible to hang anything in there. The bathroom also had a miniature sink and very little surface space to put your stuff while getting ready except the toilet lid. (Ewww) Be sure to bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper, because the walls are paper thin. We could hear every word (and sigh and moan...) of the people next door. When they used the blow dryer, it seemed like it was in our bathroom. There is an A/C unit in the room and the fan is quite loud, so it does drown out the neighbors, but keep in mind that they can hear all YOUR noises, too, which was not conducive to a romantic morning with the spouse.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the zoo and lake. Also try to get something bigger than their standard queen.

This is Chicago's newest hotel and is part of the Joie De Vivre family of hotels. Their first in Chicago. The location is unbelievable. On the North Side, right accross the street from Lincoln Park, The Zoo and Lake Michigan. The restaurant, Perennial Virant, part of the Boka Restaurant Group, is one of the best in the city. In June, they are going to have a rooftop lounge open with unobstructed views of the city, the park and the lake. Can't wait to come back to see this. This place rocks!!

Room Tip: Well, if you can look at Lake Michigan, why wouldn't you?

Got a great rate for the extremely cool hotel. Kinda like the set of madmen meets lincoln park. Staff was very polite, guys wear handtied bowties and girls polkadots dresses. They said uniforms were from Ted Baker. Nice touch. The room was average size for what you expect but did not feel like a hotel room. I recommend this to anyone.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of lake michigan
