Recently opened, this is an outstanding example of creativity meets competence that produces an amazing and delightful dining experience. Aided by a knowledgeable and professional waitperson in Chris, we enjoyed a delicious and adventurous meal. The small portions were outstanding and introduced us to new spices and flavors that enriched the evening and our palates. A 5 star meal! The decor is understated until a trip to the bathrooms where innovation meets fun and good taste. We arrived early and were able to converse but soon the space was packed and conversation became exclamations of delight. Worth a visit--or a number of visits!

Bad Hunter is a new addition to the West Loop's happening 'restaurant row' on Randolph Street. We had dinner here on a Saturday night with a late reservation.

The atmosphere is great--nice lighting, buzzy and loud but not so loud that you can't hear conversation at your table. There's a bar on one side of the restaurants and tables on the other. Casual, but upscale, feel.

Our table was not ready when we arrived, but we were able to order cocktails at the bar while we waited and our table was, thankfully, ready within a few minutes of the reservation.

The cocktails were DELICIOUS--great combinations, and each was well-executed, from herbal and fruity to boozy and robust. Very impressed with the cocktail program.

The menu emphasizes vegetables, which is a nice addition to the West Loop. Our experience showed that vegetables are the things to order on this menu--our vegetarian dishes were mostly hits, while the couple of meat things we ordered were misses (especially the sausage, which was flavorless). Small plates concept; the food was easy to share.

Service was attentive and friendly, and our server gave us good guidance on how much to order so we'd be full.

Enjoyable experience. I don't think it's one of Chicago's must-do restaurants (especially for a visitor), but I would certainly return and I think it adds to the neighborhood.
