8 of us stayed here for a hot week in April - 4 adults and 4 children aged 10-13. The house is perfect for a group, plenty of space with 5 floors and lots of outdoor areas too. The pool was fabulous and the children used it everyday, warming up in the jacuzzi bath afterwards! The bedrooms were lovely spacious, kitchen well equipped and the pasta and prosecco left for us a lovely gesture. There are a couple of big supermarkets just a short drive away. The villa is conveniently situated - whilst here we visited Lucca several times, had a day in Pisa, a day on the beach and took the train to Firenze (Florence). Monika was extremely helpful with anything we needed and was always available. We had a fantastic week.
My husband and I spent a week in September at Villa Le Rondini and had a wonderful stay. We were slightly sceptical prior to booking given that there were no reviews on trip advisor so I contacted Monika (who looks after the villa) via email with a few questions to try and get some more details and reassure myself that the villa was as good as the photos made it look. Monika replied very promptly advising the property was relatively new to the holiday rental market, and to trip advisor. She answered all the questions I had regarding location, rental history etc. Based on this we went ahead and booked the villa and are very glad that we did as it exceeded all our expectations.
The villa more than lives up to the pictures on trip advisor. It is very modern, clean, and comfortable. Admittedly it was a large villa for just the two of us but after looking at many other places on trip advisor I could not find any that looked as good as Villa Le Rondini.
Monika was very helpful throughout, meeting us at the property upon our arrival and letting us check in early as we came in on an early flight and the villa was unoccupied that morning. We were shown around the villa and were told everything we needed to know. Monika was also happy to help with anything else during our stay, all we had to do was call or text her.
The villa is very well equipped and has an electric gated entry with a driveway big enough for at least four cars. It has a good size pool that is cleaned regularly by the owners son who lives locally, decent size garden, plenty of sun loungers, and there is a nice outside dining area near the kitchen with a large table and chairs.
The kitchen was well equipped including a big oven, large gas hob, microwave, kettle, and a dish washer. This all made it very easy to eat in and you could easily cater for a large group. There is also a large bbq in the garage that is available for guests to use.
The main lounge area was nice and comfortable for chilled nights in and all of the bedrooms were well equipped with plenty of wardrobe space, extra covers etc.
The owners left a lovely welcome gift for us which was much appreciated and Monika later advised us that some of the lovely paintings throughout the villa had been done by the owner which was a really nice touch.
There were still some mosquitos around in September when we stayed but the owners provided plug in mosquito deterrents for use in the house, and outdoor burners for the patio and deck areas which were very much appreciated.
The villa was in a good location for us as we had a car and it is only a 10 minute drive into Lucca which has some very nice restaurants and is a beautiful place to visit. It is also in a good location for visiting places such as Cinque terra, Florence, Siena, etc. which we visited during our stay. We drove to these places but the train service is also excellent so it is very easy to get about and see all the best bits of Tuscany. We didn't walk anywhere local to the villa so cannot advise what was in walking distance but the village seemed nice and quiet. It was not too far to drive to the supermarket, a large Carrefour that was about five minutes away by car.
The only things I would mention that might be of note to others is that the villa doesn’t have air conditioning. This is fine for the time of year that we visited but in peak summer months this would be something to consider. There are also only Italian TV channels available, this was fine for us as we didn’t go on holiday to watch TV but for some this may be an issue (we were aware of this in advance as it is included in the description of the property). These are both things that we mentioned to Monika as she was keen to get feedback on what we thought of our stay and what could be done to improve the villa for others in the future.
Overall we had a lovely stay at Villa Le Rondini and would definitely return. Thank you to Monika for making us feel so welcome.
