The place is quaint and was playing Puerto Rican music in the background. Easy to find and we got parking right in the front. The owner Dario helped us in recommending our menu choices of food and drink. All the food was wonderful and the service was great. If you haven't tried it, you should for all the tasty and colorful foods. It's a nice change from all the Italian, Burger and Mexican restaurants. Will go back again.

Loved the jibarito and the empanadas. I tried the chicken and corned beef empanadas (they were out of the beef ones). Very good arroz con gandules as well. Can't wait to go there on a weekend and try their pasteles. Service can be a bit slow, but worth the wait. Parking can be a challenge.

From the outside the gray awning just blends in with the numerous Mexican restaurants in the neighborhood, especially on Cermak Road. But once you step inside you're in for a treat. A small space with limited seating and tasteful decor. I felt transformed to my Grandmother's home back in PR. Starting with empanadas, all three of course; chicken, beef, and the often overlooked corned beef. Flaky and perfectly cooked, only thing I would add would be some sort of dipping sauce. (My Gram served a garlic olive oil with her empanadas) Then on to the shrimp al ajillo which is basically a sauce of spices, lots of garlic and oil....and this place scores a 10 with this dish, incredibly tasty and full of flavor. Service was top notch and gentleman who I would guess was the owner greeted us and checked on us again. Desserts lacked a bit but main entrees will bring us back. Good luck Cafe Latino!
