“We almost don't want to share the secret”

Ravanela House and its charming hosts are nothing short of amazing. Without doubt, this is the nicest villa we have stayed in EVER, and we are truly picky about both our surroundings and the house itself.

Our trip began by being picked up by the owners, Tim & Anne, who managed our luggage and drove us up the steep slope to Ravanela House. You've seen the pictures! The vista in real life is just spectacular - with sweeping views of Port Elizabeth to your front, and the sea & St Vincent to your left. You are truly in the treetops, with only birdsong to interrupt the tranquil setting. It is isolated and unique - its positioning is faultless.

Once we were able to pick our jaws up, Tim & Anne gave us a tour of the house. As previous reviews have noted, the standards of everything in this house are top-notch. Not only was every room beautifully appointed (there really is no 'best room'), the furnishings were of a quality that you would have in your own home. The beds were SO comfortable. The sofa and TV (with excellent cable), made you happy to sit inside during the rare moments when it was raining. The adorable kitchen was wonderful for fixing breakfast, to be taken out onto the gorgeous patio table to enjoy the view (did we mention the view?). We genuinely can't fault anything.

So onto the owners: Tim & Anne are clearly prepared to give wide berth to those guests who solely want privacy. But we loved them too much to stay away! Tim is a very special person, and one who is genuinely thrilled to be able to organize whatever your heart desires. We wanted a private sailing/fishing trip - but one that wasn't too expensive (yeah, right). Presto! Tim organized everything - and we had a perfect day on a yacht captained by a local sailor, complete with a private picnic on a deserted beach. We could go on and on about how helpful Tim & Anne were with recommendations, directions, etc. They both are clearly well loved by everyone on the island. Their knowledge of all-things Bequai is incredibly helpful, and their company was delightful.

We stayed at Ravanela for 10 days during April. The pace of the island is slow to comatose (in a good way!). The beautiful beaches were virtually deserted - if we shared the gorgeous stretch of sand with four other people it was shocking. The local restaurants as recommended by Tim & Anne were excellent. The entire trip was heaven.

Restaurants - all very good (with the exception of the Ginger Bread). Fernando's is in Lower Bay, great, charming yet quirky. Mac's Pizza (Lobster Pizza), Pappas, The Green Boli (try the Roti), Auberge (closed now for 5 weeks whilst the owners take some holiday.

One last tip: Ask Tim to obtain some of the local honey for your stay - we have never had any honey like it! Beyond delicious. And have him show you how to make a passion fruit G&T. We've tried to replicate it since we've been back, but perhaps the lack of warm Caribbean breezes and stunning views made it slightly less enticing...... ah, Ravanela!! J&C

Well we have been home for a week now after our stay at Ravenala. It has taken us until now to get back to earth.
When we arrived at the villa after our journey we were in tears of joy at the utterly gorgeous view from the verandah at the villa. It really is just like the photos on the website.
The villa is beautifully appointed in every aspect. The living areas are comfortable, the kitchen well equipped and the bedrooms cool and spacious. Then you come to the exquisite shower with an almost outdoor feel and lovely touches of real class. The warm coral tiles, soft on the feet both inside and around the pool stay cool in the heat and add to what can only be described as a superb holiday destination.
The pool is without peer. To sit in the pool and see the boats and yachts in the harbour and watch the world go by is an absolute treat. It's a birds eye view of the island without leaving the villa.
Tim and Ann made us so welcome and helped us with bags and direction on the island. They were also there to point us to the best restaurants and bars, and Tim even supplied us with fresh bread which was delicious!
We were lucky enough to get married at Ravenala during our stay. Ann and Tim looked after us in every way, from start to finish they could not help us enough. Our wedding was obviously a highlight and we cannot both thank Ravenala and our hosts enough for their hospitality during our stay.
We had the perfect wedding in the most perfect spot with the perfect hosts.
We would thoroughly recommend a stay here,it is a gem of a villa in the best position of any in bequia and would be hard to beat in the region.

“Ravenala - The Best Place to Stay in the Caribbean”

Ravenala House is perched on a hill overlooking Bequia's most beautiful bays. It is a lovely 2-bedroom villa offering complete privacy (there's an annex w another room+bathroom). The infinity pool alone is worth the price of rental. Entering the property is a pleasure in itself, with lush gardens and trees carrying fruits (lime, papaya...) and a big fan palm tree (ravenala). The terrace boasts absolutely stunning views of Lower and Princess Margaret and Port Elizabeth. This is a special secluded place, the owners clearly discovered a true gem.

The House: has beautiful light, is very quiet, the rooms are spacious and as accommodating as your own place. Each room has a large king sized bed w an effective mosquito net. The bathrooms are a highlight w skylight and rain-head showers... The terrace has a dining table, perfect to have your meals and seating area ready to accommodate a large group.

The Services: beach and shower towels are provided as well as a fully equipped kitchen. There's an ipod deck and a stereo, a bbq facility outside, lounging chairs by the pool. A 4x4 car is at your disposal. The owners are happy to prepare meals (give them advance notice); airport pickup-dropoff; the owners were extremely helpful in booking all our activities including renting a boat to go to Tobago Cays, diving, making restaurants reservations, recommending pretty much anything we needed help with.

The Surroundings: simply look at photos! Everything is a short 5min ride by car, white-sandy beaches w coconut trees, fruit and vegetable markets, restaurants, bars, diving centers. Great snorkelling and diving for those who endeavour.

The Fruits: the most delicious juicy pineapples, papayas, limes, bananas, custard apples and passion fruit await you upon arrival at the villa.

A truly special place, off the beaten track, that you'd like to return to. We highly recommend it.

“Magical Villa with Pool and Magnificent Views”
Reviewed 22 December 2012 for a stay in December 2012

We chose this property after an extensive search on the internet – we are experienced holiday villa renters and can be quite demanding – looking for comfort/luxury, excellent views, plenty of space, safety, cleanliness and good amenities. Ravenala House did not disappoint! Having reviewed the pictures of the property on TripAdvisor, we do not think the photos do it full justice – the views are quite simply stunning. The property is very well equipped and comfortable inside, with quality kitchenware/equipment, fluffy towels and cotton bed linen. Outside, comfortable chairs and loungers and a large terrace allowed us to enjoy the views of three bays (Lower, Princess Margaret and Admiralty) and the movements of boats and yachts below. The pool is well maintained and inviting, especially in the heat of the day, though actually the property’s location on the hill means there is invariably a welcome breeze. The house comes with a 4 wheel drive vehicle, which is handy for the roads in Bequia, which can be steep and unmade in places. Restaurants and bars are within easy reach in Lower Bay or a short drive away in Port Elizabeth, with plenty of choice. We cooked a lot for ourselves too – as the property has a well equipped kitchen and BBQ. We found swimming and snorkelling in the nearest bay glorious –warm & clear azure waters. Tim and Anne, the Owner/Managers and their team Jal and Shareena, looked after us really well – responding to specific requests fast, being there to give friendly advice and answer questions without being intrusive.
We had such a nice time that we will definitely be going back soon.
