Lake Lowell in Sept/November is a must visit for photography, walking trails and sight seeing. The fall colors along the lakes banks are beautiful.

Nice wildlife refuge that includes lake Lowell Reservoir for boating, hunting and fishing. No wake zone allows for good fishing before the dog days of summer hit. There are also some nice trails to hike as well as bird watching. Nice sandy beaches with picnic areas on the lake as well.

Such a great local spot to get away. If fishing is your thing or just going for a walk, Lake Lowell at Deer Flat is a perfect but close get away. Watched 2 herons as they danced the sky to find refuse among the flowers water plants. Clouds floating loftily by as the sun shimmers across the lake was the perfect ending to a perfect day with my hubby. Life is good.

This is a nice place for birdwatching. If it is hot, beware that most trails are in the sun--nice on a cool day, but a bit much as the day heats up. A lot of boat traffic on the lake, so if that is not your thing, move on. However, it is a good place to see raptors and other birds especially during the migration.

Deer Flats is a great place to view ducks and geese in the winter and other birds, and during the summer to go fishing. The water can get a little "green" during the late summer when the water levels drop during irrigation season.

It's nice to go to in the winter for a walk. It quit and peaceful. Not loud like the summer time. You can take awesome pictures of the lake especially when it's frozen.

What a great way to enjoy nature and a beautiful day. So many things to do and see at Deer Flat National Wildlife Refuge. Multiple trails to choose from and you may even see a deer or two!
