We agree Dog Bark Park is rather off the beaten path being 4 hours from an Interstate highway. We are on Idaho's only north/south highway traversing the entire length of the state, yet in this stretch traffic is rather light with rivers, mountains & open agricultural prairie lands dotted by occasional small towns with all the services travelers might need. In a word, we think, delightful. We also delight in providing healthful snacking and breakfast options using locally grown foods as much as possible. Our guest library includes plenty of dog-themed books and games along with many of our favorite reads from over the years, plus books about travelling Idaho and beyond. It was a pleasure to have met you & so glad you enjoyed your time here. Beagle on!
I have never left a review on tripadvisor before, but our experience here was so exceptional that we had to share.
We were just passing through on our way home from a month long road trip: family of 5, kids aged 10, 12 & 15. We all LOVED Dog Bark Park (EVEN the teenager!) Everything was perfect. Frances and Dennis could not have been more warm and friendly. They are just a total joy.
The place itself is very clean, and they've thought of everything. No tv and wifi was in and out, but you don't need it. We were actually wishing we'd had more time to enjoy the grounds and selection of games & books. The food was a real highlight-delicious,fresh and homemade snacks & breakfast treats and plenty of it. Even my hungry-after-two-weeks-of-camping tribe of 5 couldn't eat everything that was available.
Spacious bathroom with great water pressure and a bathtub which was nice after many weeks of camp showers. The beds were VERY soft. Our kids slept up in the head/snout on some foldable foam beds. They all absolutely loved it.
I really can't recommend this place enough. Wonderful place run by wonderful people.
We're glad to furnish an interesting place for families to stay & take pride that it is decidedly different from standard fare lodgings. We use as many local/regional ingredients in our home-baked granola & pastries as available, harvesting from our own garden & local farmer's markets. Many of the decorations & games, puzzles & books are from our personal collections new and old. We enjoy sharing them as well as our experiences and background stories about our establishing Dog Bark Park which includes much more than the big dog inn. We anticipate your return visit & welcome to Trip Advisor.
We stayed here for just one night in June on our road trip in the US. We received a lovely warm welcome from Frances on arrival together with great advice about the area and where to eat etc. Purchased two of their hand carved dogs from the shop as reminders of a memorable visit. The bed was comfy and the full size bathroom was a nice suprise. Everything was spotless and the dog themed room together with dog shaped biscuits was fun to experience. Plenty of choice for breakfast left in the fridge and cupboard. We had a long chat next morning before we left and have many fond memories of Frances and Dennis and this quirky B&B in Idaho.
Many of our guests are travelling through our area from one area to another, particularly since we are located about mid-way between Glacier and Yellowstone National Parks. We're also a day's drive from Seattle/Portland area. Fly-in locations equally about 4 hours drive from us are airports in Boise, Spokane or Missoula with the very nearest airport at just 1 hour is Lewiston, Idaho. We're so glad you enjoyed the wide selection of snacking & breakfast foods; we don't want anyone to leave the comfort of the big dog hungry! So appreciate your visit & we'll hope you'll return to Idaho again some time to continue conversations.
How can I describe the delight we experienced as we drove up for our first visit to the Dog Bark Park Inn? Words just can't express fully the warmth, hospitality, and joy that radiates from this bed & breakfast. The owners, Dennis, Frances & Sprocket, greeted us as if we were old friends. We all were "dog people" and shared stories as well as brags about the Beagles we had owned. As with many other people, this was on my Bucket List and will be a place we come back to as often as possible. Sweet Willy was spic and span clean and the breakfast was scrumptious. Be sure to read the newspaper and magazine articles in the room about this place and it will awe you as how it came to be. And do buy a dog carving as they are exquisite. This "stay" will remain in my heart forever. Thank you, Dennis & Frances, for making your dream come true AND for sharing it.
As the creators of Dog Bark Park, we do enjoy our guests who enjoy absorbing all the aspects that comprise our inn and all else about it. Yes, we are a place for a comfortable stay; and yes, we are much more than that should our visitors have the time to "paws" and take it all in. Thank you for taking the time to reflect on your stay and express your thoughts through this forum.
I had a wonderful time. Francis & Dennis are 2 great people whom I now consider as my friends. With the window open the cool, crisp, clean air made for a great night's sleep
Dennis supplied a wealth of information about their place and answered all of my pig the wall questions. STAY HERE
We're so glad your long journey to Idaho was worth the effort. We enjoy spending as much time as possible with guests eager to look beyond the skin of the dog to learn its backstory. We tend to forget that fresh air like we have here on the prairie is not available everywhere which is something people always say they enjoy about the outdoors in Idaho and the rural western US.
I couldn't say enough good about this place or the owners/operators Frances & Dennis, with sprocket, they are Soo nice, helped us with anything we asked, it was clean , neat and a giant beagle what more do u need. A MUST see & stay
We're glad you enjoyed your time here after the long wait and long trip to Idaho. Your immediate and repeated smiles reinforce our pleasure in offering a unique experience for each guest whether it's visiting about our artwork, telling the story behind the creation of Dog Bark Park Inn, making recommendations for things to do/see in and around town, or travel routes for next destination.
