We decided to try Cracker Barrel after a day of hard skiing. It was within 5 minutes drive from our hotel. Yes, it is a chain restaurant, cute store front with many rocking chairs. You walk through the country store both going in and coming out. The dining area is gigantic. The roaring fireplace was going, it was wonderful! Kept us nice and warm. It was decorated with many country themed artifacts.

Our waitress, Mary, is just a gem. She was super friendly, made recommendation when we asked her what should first-timers consider. She came back to check up on us, and always had a smile on her face. In the end, we ordered the sampler and the pecan crusted catfish from the wholesome menu (lighter fares). It was fun to combine all the items and just sampled!!

We liked the corn bread better than the biscuit. Enjoyed the jam and apple butter that came with them. The sampler had meat loaf (just ok), chicken dumpling (yummy), and the sugar ham (very good). We really enjoyed the pecan crusted catfish. For sides we got a variety, liked the coleslaw, steam broccoli, and green beans. Thought the fried okra was just so-so as the mashed potato and gravy.

Got the blackberry cobbler and vanilla ice cream for dessert. With beverage, our bill only came to near $27, including tax. Where can you eat all this for that price?? Amazing. The portions were not enormous, which is a good thing. Keep the prices down, so we can try more items.

One note: They do not have any alcoholic beverages.

Had the Friday Fish & Chips , fish were good and almost more than I could eat! Fries , on the other hand were end of bag and had been sitting under heat lamps for too long , nothing over about 1 1/2 inches long! Coleslaw was good too - Wife got a little sick , but might have been a bug , we ate the same things and it didn't bother me ..The Clam Chowder was quite good , too!

My daughter, husband and I came from Spokane for lunch and it was fantastic! Not only did we get seated right away, but the food was amazing! I order a new chicken dish and was told it was so popular it would be 20 minutes before more was made. So we ordered the kale salad and wasn't even done with it before the rest of our food came! It was so delicious! We all loved everything we ordered!

We were happy to see the Cracker Barrel open a facility somewhat near to us... but we were somewhat underwhelmed... service was good and friendly, but the food was just average, not as we have remembered in times past. And of course it has that loud dining chatter that seems to be part of the Cracker Barrel experience, they are no t a place to go for a quiet dinner for two.

We came across the Cracker Barrel by chance. We liked that they had RV parking which is always a challenge at other restaurants. The decor was very pleasing and provided for nostalgic conversations, the service was excellent and the food was good.
