So, location is great. I didn't realize before but pretty much all the hotels on Tybee Island have public parking between them and the beach! But, that said, this was about as convenient as you could get.
This location has a North Tower and a South Tower. We stayed in the North tower in an ocean-facing room. Each room has a balcony and that is really nice first thing in the morning, BUT because there is a public parking lot right outside your balcony, it isn't so much peaceful and quiet. There will be cars pulling in and out and people walking to the beach to enjoy the sunrise for themselves. But it's not bad. Great for our trip, which was a family Spring Break. We are up before the sun every day, so the noise never bothered us!
Okay, so you can tell that the property is working on upgrades. That's great and I think any property owner/manager should be commended for that. But you can also tell that they are trying to do this very quickly, and are cutting corners. For instance, in our room the sprinklers didn't have any kind of covers over the drywall hole they came through. So just a hole in the ceiling with the sprinkler head sticking out. Doesn't HURT anything, but those are details I notice about places. Also, at the end of the tub is a nice little space that can...So, location is great. Doesn't HURT anything, but those are details I notice about places. Also, at the end of the tub is a nice little space that can serve as a shelf or a seat, but it is just painted wood. If this had been tiled, it would have looked stylish, but with the wood, it looked quickly cobbled together to get the job done.
Our room also had a small spot along the tub where the drywall had peeled some. This says that they did not use the right type of drywall for a bathroom (which will be exposed to steam and higher moisture and will hold up to it better). This can actually become a pretty big problem as mold becomes a concern!
If I come back to Tybee Island I will stay here. The price is right for the location and all. Just a few things that hopefully will be touched up when the major renovation process is over.More
