In the building in front of this Confederate carving is an information table with pamplets giving information about the carving process and history. Reading this helps make one appreciate the vast size of the carving. There is also a movie about the process.

It looks like crap, that is what I call legal graffiti, that beautiful mountain was defaced what were this people thinking when they came up with this idea. I see no reason why they couldn't erect a separate sculpture of the three confederate army leaders/soldiers on the bottom of the mountain. The sculptor seems to be undone and you can hardly make it out. It's a beautiful park but that carving is a disgrace to sculptors everywhere.

It's been a LONG time since my parents first brought me to Stone Mountain, but as an adult I can appreciate the work that was put into the carving. Very cool to see in person...but the laser show is highly overrated and a tad on the cheesy side.

Stone Mountain is a nice family spot, something for all ages even swimming.
If you like hiking or a quiet stroll this is the place.

It doesn't seem like much in the pictures but is quite impressive in person. The sky ride really gets you up close and personal. The museum was a disappointment; considering the carving is of three confederate heroes, there was no mention in the museum of who they were or why they were important enough to be memorialized.
