We spent four nights here in April, 2012....It was immactuately clean, comfortable and friendly and the breakfasts were superb. Great innkeepers (they are contemplating retirement so you buy it) who were very knowledgeable and accommodating . would stay here again if visiting this area and highly recommend it. Room Tip: Bon Vivant and Rose Cottage restaurants are within two blocks and are fabulous

We visited the Chipley Murrah House for two nights and found it to be an exceptional B&B. I have stayed in about half a dozen in the southeast, and this place topped the list.

The house itself is gorgeous. The architecture and furnishings just lovely. It is located only 1 block from the quaint little town of Pine Mountain and 1 mile from the entrance to Calloway Gardens. We also visited FDR State Park for horseback riding and hiking, which was less than a 10 minute drive. Great location, very convenient.

The hosts, Donna and Paul, provide unequaled service to their guests. Their rooms were filled to capacity during our stay, but they always took the time to visit with us on our way in or out and after breakfast. The breakfasts were wonderful, a delicious quiche and grits and a full southern breakfast with homemade biscuits and homemade jams, always accompanied by fresh fruit and tea or coffee and juice. In addition to breakfast each morning, they provide two refrigerators with cold drinks and a butler's pantry with snacks and assorted sweets for the midday or midnight sweet tooth.

Our bedroom was tastefully decorated and comfortable. The tub/shower provided a well-needed soak and fresh towels welcomed us each afternoon. Details such as monogrammed robes, complimentary lavendar soaps, and a selection of romance DVDs for lazy afternoons were provided as well.

If visiting during the summer, an in-ground pool and putting green are in the rear yard, surrounded by the additional rental "cabins" on the spacious property. We will definitely return!

Room Tip: Magnolia Room bath is located down the hall; other rooms have adjoining bathroom.

Part of the reason for staying in a B & B is the people. The hosts and the other guests provide richness to the experience that is not available in other venues. Donna and Paul are wonderful hosts. We were there for five days and had a lovely time.

We had a different breakfast each day. I would have trouble pointing out one I liked best, They were all great.

The house is full of delightful antique furniture and artwork. I am sure there is a story behind every piece.

The azaleas around the house were as nice as the ones we saw at Calloway.

We hope to go back next year.

Room Tip: The Governor's Suite on the ground floor has its own private entrance off the porch.

As a lifelong southerner, the Chipley Murrah House is the kind of place you wish all non-southerners would stay so they would know the uniqueness of southern hospitality. Paul & Donna have created a Bed & Breakfast experience that leaves nothing but a good taste in your mouth. My wife and I wanted to see the Fantasy in Lights extravaganza at Calloway Gardens during the Christmas holidays. We arrived on a Monday afternoon and immediately met our two hosts. When we left for the light show, they gave us blankets (it was cold) to help keep us warm. We stayed in the Governor's Suite. It featured a king-sized four poster bed, sitting area, flat screen tv, DVD player, Santa Claus checkerboard, antique armoire, large bathroom divided into two rooms with a clawfoot tub with shower. The breakfast as prepared by Donna was different each day, but always featured fresh fruit, eggs and some kind of french toast that was awesome. They directed us to two great places for dinner, Aspen Grill and Carriage & Horses (see our review of this winner). In short, I can't imagine what more they could have done to make our stay one of the best times we have ever experienced. I forgot to mention that our room had its own private entrance, but frankly we didn't use it much because we got to talk with Paul and Donna by going out the main part of the house. This place is an absolutely unmatched bed and breakfast experience.

Room Tip: Governor's Suite makes you feel like a king.

My husband and I spent two nights at the Chipley Murrah house and were extremely pleased with the hospitality. Donna and Paul are excellent hosts. They made us feel like friends, not customers. We stayed in the Governor's Suite, which has a huge comfy king-sized four-poster bed. The room (and entire house) is decorated beautifully, especially for Christmastime! It's like stepping back into Victorian days. The room has a good-sized flat screen tv, free wi-fi, and a nice bathroom with a big old claw-foot bathtub to soak in. This suite even has a separate entrance, so you can come and go without entering the main door.
The house is historic, with one of the world's oldest gingko trees, and there's a tale about how the house survived the famous tornado of 1900-something. It survived, but there's still a gash in the bannister where a pair of scissors was flung by the tornado and lodged there. Everywhere you look are beautiful antiques. It's just glorious.
Oh, it is a bed and BREAKFAST. Oh my, the breakfast! Donna's pecan french toast is legendary! We were served delicious fresh fruit each morning, great coffee, eggs, bacon, and that french toast! What pampering!
We will definitely stay here again. This was one of the most pleasant, comfortable trips we've ever taken. Thanks, Donna and Paul!
