My family and I love Helen. My anniversary is in October, so we are here every Oktoberfest. This year, we decided to rent a cabin and take our two boys (8 and 6). The value of an all day waterpark for a family of four that includes tubing is great! There's only a few attractions at the waterpark, but it is nice and not overwhelming like a larger water park is. We had to wait a few hours due to the river being too swift from the previous night's storm. However, my boys were thrilled to slide the water slides while we waited. The river, when all ages were announced, was perfect. The river was kinda swift, higher up (so you don't get stuck on as many rocks) and the cool mountain water felt great in the brutal July heat here in GA.
We can't wait for next summer: we will definitely be back!

This Alpine village is a fun place to visit for families and all ages. The tubing down the river through the town is exciting and very picturesque. The shops are unique and great to brouse through. Great place to go on vacation.

We chose the "pink tubes" upon a recommendation from a local. So glad we did. It was a super affordable way for our family of 6 to make some memories together. Spring for the stick! You'll not regret paying $5 for a stick to help push you off the banks or rocks when your raft gets stuck. Loved that they tethered little ones together. We had a harrowing experience with a snake on a tree near the bank, but that's when the stick came in handy. Nature is wild!
The whole journey took us about 2 hours but we made a lifetime of memories.
Tip: Wear water shoes. A local fisherman warned me about lots of "lost" hooks on the bottom of the river.

We loved this tubing. It is about two hours of cool relaxing floating!! Fun to do with family or friends. We had done whitewater rafting the day before with Wildwater Rafting who are awesome, so our energy level was depleted. You just get your tube and hope in and enjoy. You can stop at any point and swim or sit as long as you like. They have baths and changing stations as well. We loved it!!

We went to Helen tubing for our trip down the lazy river. Everything went smoothly and the fellas working there were laid back and friendly. They had a good operation going; we were in, paid, and on the river in what seemed like just a few minutes. It took us longer to gather together to take a pic than it did to pay and get our tubes. It was very inexpensive too.

We had a nice, long, relaxing trip down the river. The cool water is very refreshing on a hot day. Depending on the water level, you may get stuck on some rocks, but that's all part of it. We floated by very scenic areas, houses, restaurants, campgrounds and the main drag in Helen..beautiful.

The bus ride back wasn't too bad. We waited in line for about 15 minutes, then were back at the parking lot after a short bus ride.

Went tubing down the river while we were in Helen and had a great couple of hours on the river. Went in the late afternoon (around 3:00), which worked to our advantage as it wasn't as busy as it could have been (we did also go on a Sunday). We did not tether ourselves together and while at first I thought it would be better to be tied together, I think it made it a little easier going over some of the "rapids". I would highly recommend getting the stick to help push off rocks, push off of the river banks, use a paddle or even hold on to a friends to float along with. We did not go to the water park but I would definitely recommend "shooting the 'hooch" to anyone who was going to Helen (weather depending).

A group of friends and i went to Helen, GA from Grovetown, GA and the drive was totally worth it. We loved the experience and the price for the river tubing was a great surprise. Would totally recommend for anyone looking to have a good time for a cheap price without sacrificing quality! We went on the pink tubes and it lasted a bit longer than the 2.5 hours they say because we stopped a couple of times for pictures and to wait for the group. PLAN ON GOING BACK WITH FAMILY!!
