“Cozy Place for Thai Food”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 February 2012

Eat At Thai is located in a small shopping center and hard to find, and when you walk inside it is very dark, the walls are dark red, the inside has a number of small “rooms” connected together with archways, windows and Thai decorations. This imparts a cozy, quiet ambiance. The night we were there they had a very small staff, but luckily there were not many diners so service was acceptable and very friendly.

Having eaten at many, many Thai restaurants all over the world, I have a wide variety of experiences to compare this restaurant, and I’d say it ranks in the middle of the pack. Good but not exceptional. We started with the cheese roll, sort of a spring roll with cheese, shrimp, and crab served with a sweet & sour sauce that while smallish, were quite tasty. The house salad was also small served with a tiny amount of peanut dressing on the side, but did have chicken and shrimp chunks in it and it seemed very fresh. The Tom Kha soup was very thin and did not have much coconut milk in it, and tasted more like a Tom Yum soup flavored with a drop or two of coconut milk – flavorful but a little disappointing.

The chicken Masaman Curry was very tasty, but again, a very small portion. This is really atypical from most Thai restaurants that usually give you huge portions that could easily serve two people. I guess it is either a sign of the poor economic times or just the owner’s way of trying to save money. The white rice served with it was perfectly cooked and very good, and the overall impact of the dish was delicious. For $9.95 I guess I’d rate it as an average value.

For desert we had fried banana with a scoop of coconut flavored vanilla ice cream, and while the four pieces of banana were (again) tiny, they were delicious. And the ice cream was a very premium creamy vanilla just lightly flavored with coconut – again, very delicious.

Overall, I’d say you should Eat At Thai, but don’t expect to be wowed, just satisfied. And in today’s world, that ain’t bad!

“Been here countless times, ALWAYS good!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 January 2012

Best place for Thai food! Their lunch is one of the best deals in town. Have had Massaman Curry, Red Curry, and something 'basil'. All were delish! My fav is the Massaman, and I order extra sauce for a small fee. Hubby likes the red curry. Mother liked the Pad Thai. Service is a bit slow, but the food is fresh and worth the wait. They can make your food as hot/spicy (Hubby loves this part) or as mild (yay!) as you would like it. The soup that comes with lunch is yummy, and if you choose the spring roll instead of soup, this is also good. The Thai Ice tea is excellent. Atmosphere, well, it's a bit RED and kind of dated, so just look at your dinner company or stare at the yummy food.

“The reviews are right...this place is a great value!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 November 2011

I was in town on business and had a couple hours before my appointment. I found this little place on my Droid and the previous reviews intrigued me...

Its in a shopping mall and is actually a pretty small place. Its family-owned, which I like, and the service was excellent. You can definitely tell it's a family affair! I paid $8.55 for my meal including drink ($1). The food was great, and the soup was awesome...just enough spice! The atmosphere was nice, including the music and decor.

If you're looking for authentic Thai cuisine, with an overall great value and experience, then give this place a try! You won't be disappointed.

“A terrific restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 September 2011

I try to eat here at least once a week. The best Thai food I've ever had. The service is friendly, but this family-owned restaurant sometimes gets overwhelmed, so service is sometimes slow. Usually, a trip here is 100% positive. I love the basil chicken. Others in the family like the various curries.

“Our favorites: Spicy beef salad, tom yum and all their stir fry”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 July 2011

A bit off the highway and hidden in the corner of a strip mall, but worth looking for. The food here always tastes fresh and light, and even the fried foods avoid being greasy. I think it's reasonable to judge a restaurant by its soups: if they can make flavor deep and intense in a water-based dish, then it's a safe bet that there's real flavor in other dishes too. Both the tom yum and the coconut soup please us every time. I've tried the massaman and the red curry too and found them richly flavored. Check out the chalkboard at the front for the specials; the spices on the soft shell crab appetizer never overpower the sweet shellfish. If you love Thai noodles, you won't be disappointed with the tasty ones at Eat at Thai.
