I have been many times here for lunch & dinner.Have always had a Great experience ! Recently i was with a group of women (8+) to have dinner. One of the women who was new that i dont know made a Very embarrassing fool of herself.Taking her frustrations out on the owner & waitstaff..I guess she figured she was the only one dining and all attention on her. She should be Ashamed ! After our meal we were surprised to see our server with a complimentary cake(whole) to thank us for joining them that evening. Our server went to get our checks ready and then all hell broke loose..She got up and made her way into the kitchen and made a seen of herself..Very embarrassing !!! Id like to Thank you at Bit a Boston for handling this with kindness. See you soon :)

We visited A Bit of Boston today for the third time. Once again, the service was fast and friendly and the fried clam strips and fries were the best we've ever had--and we're from the Boston area! We plan to go back again--and again! Our only complaint is that the clams strips were so good that it spoiled us for our favorite restaurand up north.

Have now been to eat here at least 5 times, bringing friends and relatives to enjoy the delicious food and wonderful service. Have no idea what prior reviewer meant about the servers, banter, etc. We have now met every server and they are all delightful, willing to engage in jokes, giving local recomenndations for other places in the area, describing their food in an honest manner, and just being plain friendly. Are restaurants not like this in Boston.....is this what the prior reviewer was trying to say? If so, maybe she should go back to Boston. Personally I prefer the folks and food at this little gem. To date, I've had the fish and chips lunch (2 huge pieces of white fish on a soft toasted bun), the Fri. All you can eat shrimp special (small but fried perfectly with a really good "shrimpy" taste), the fried clam roll (several have agreed these were the most tender and succulent clams they have ever had), as well as their scallop dinner (about 8-10 large deep sea scallops, fried perfectly). My bro-in-law used to rave about the scallops in NC, until he tasted these! We will continue to frequent this hidden gem and hope others will give it an honest appraisal.

The owner is from New York, need I say more. The waitress, who says she is from Boston could not be. She is not warm, she is not fast, she never brought the check, she did not have any interpersonal skills at all. The waiter is about 18 and clueless. You have to ask over and over again for water. you have to ask for the check and there is none of the NE banter we are famous for. Being from Bosotn I can say - they need to move to NY.

We've had a vacation home in Venice for 12 years, and recently we finally decided to visit a Bit of Boston to see if it could replicate some of the fine seafood we experienced when living in MA. Sorry to report that it was a massive disappointment. Among three of us we had weak clam chowder, soggy shrimp special in a tasteless batter (so didn't avail of all-you-could eat!), greasy blackened cod (no thick white juicy New England fish here), an un-appetizing fish sandwich, tinned beans, limp onion half-rings and tasteless coleslaw. It's a dingy cafe. If you want diner-style food then ok, but I'm writing this review to help others from being seduced into thinking this is a fine seafood establishment.
