The location was fantastic. We were there with a large group and rented out the entire house (including this 2BR/2.5BA main house plus all of the other 1BR guest suites). All of the best shopping and restaurants are within walking distance but not so close you can’t escape the Duval Street noise at night. The housekeeping staff was polite when we saw them. The pool is nothing to brag about – it’s about the size of a large hot tub but about 4 feet deep. It’s nice to just stand in to cool off or to float in and relax. Each of the suites have cute names (Sugar Pie Suite, Honey Bun Suite, etc.). If you’re not a morning person or if you want to stay out late and sleep the day away, avoid the Sugar Pie Suite – there is a skylight above the bed which seems nice, but between the bright morning sun, the loud buzz of the A/C (which you’ll get everywhere in this part of town), and the roosters calling all morning long (another thing you can’t avoid anywhere else in Key West), it’s tough to sleep much past 7 AM. I highly recommend a sleep mask and ear plugs for a peaceful night’s rest either way no matter where you stay on the island. Also, the trees around the property drop seeds all night long, and especially during summer storms, which stick to the bottoms of your shoes and make a terrible mess when you walk inside. Bring a broom, because there isn’t one in any of the rooms or the main house, and housekeeping doesn’t sweep every day – only upon check out/in.
Overall, it’s a nice place, very well maintained, polite staff, plenty of indoor and outdoor space, and a location you can’t beat. Final reminders: bring a broom (or request HK leave one there when you check in), a sleeping mask, and ear plugs.
