This hotel is very unique, the owners are very nice and extremely accommodating. Because the building is old, there are a few things that need to be updated. Window air conditioners were a little loud but the owner assured us that they would be fixed. Rated them a 4 because it was clean and the staff were great!

Room Tip: I believe one side of the hotel might be quieter than the other.

If you want clean, comfortable and friendly, then you've found the place. This hotel is within 5 to 10 minutes walk of the best restaurants with Beulah's topping the list. The new owners (almost a year now) and staff are the best and committed to making your stay the most enjoyable possible. The hotel was built in the 1920's and for those of you who enjoy architecture, this is a great building among many others in nearby neighborhoods. The Sarasota Opera House offers great productions and is a 10 minute walk. A real gem in downtown Sarasota!

Well, I cannot say that this review is without bias. My wife and I stopped with Terri and Al many times when they owned the Seacoast Inn in Hyannis and we fully appreciated why they won the many awards they did. A chance came up in November 2015, during our annual trip to Florida, for us to stop with them at their new hotel, the Ranola, and we simply couldn’t resist.

A slight departure from the set-up they had at Hyannis, Terri and Al have a manager in place at the Ranola, Jeri, and, amazingly, she is so similar in professional ethics and attitude to Terri and Al that it makes no difference to the experience, it’s still just as good.

We stopped in a good sized suite that was fantastically quirky (a fabulous mixture of Art Deco and some Hi-Tech), very purple and complemented with black and white tiles. The suite was immaculate and clean with all required conveniences, one of two minor knocks here and there which, no doubt, Al will attend to (seriously, I am being really petty here, perhaps the odd chip to a tile, I just didn’t want to sound completely sycophantic. Which is extremely easy to do when you are treated so well by these guys). The hotel has adequate parking and is very nicely positioned for walking to all of the main areas for tourists. It sticks out a little because it is an early 20th century building nestled amongst some 21st century business buildings. No restaurant on site, but Terri directed us to an excellent little place for breakfast and there are plenty of good restaurants in the vicinity for lunch and dinner (again, take Terri and Al’s advice and you won’t go wrong). There is a Whole Foods nearby and, although it was being refurbished in November, a Starbucks too.

We didn’t spend a lot of time in Sarasota, so it would be difficult to highlight exactly who would use the Ranola. I suppose we have to take the view that if you want/need to travel to Sarasota, then this is an excellent place to stay and we certainly wouldn’t dream of trying anywhere else (unless, of course, Terri and Al bought another place!).

I am so impressed with this hotel. First off, the staff truly what you to have the best experience possible, they are so friendly and willing to do anything to their power to make your stay awesome! The hotel room was very clean and spacious. Really enjoyed the fact it had a full kitchen- you definitely feel like you are living there and not just staying in a hotel. This is the place to stay!

Just spent two lovely days in Sarasota. We chose the boutique Hotel Ranola for its location downtown and were delighted. The staff was friendly, Jerry the manager was a great reference for things to do and places to eat. She was as interested in our opinions as we were of hers. The room was spacious and clean. Comfortable chairs, cable, WiFi, small kitchen with a table and 2 chairs if you wanted go eat in. The hotel has 9 hotel rooms and 9 apartments . It has been that way since the 1920s . An interesting fact.
