I understand that large portions of the garden are closed due to the hurricanes but then they should say that in their website and upon entry. Also, completely underwhelmed by their orchid show. Probably choosing to display orchids all in one color (purple) was a poor artistic choice but even then the variety or lack thereof doomed the whole thing. Skip this attraction for the time being.

We drove a long way to get here. Wish their website had mentioned that their garden was about 80% closed (due to Hurricane Milton). Not knowing that, we assumed all was ok. There is really nothing special to see. Yet, they still charged the usual full price. Felt like we got ripped off.

We checked the information online about the Green Orchid Cafe. There was nothing saying that it was exclusive. We are not neophytes. We are well traveled and dine out frequently and have eaten in all the Sarasota museums. With both of us aided by canes we took the long walk from the handicapped parking area to the restaurant only to be informed that it is restricted to members and paying visitors to the Gardens. There is no excuse for not publicizing this policy.

I visited the main downtown location. Free parking in structure.
I'm not much of a plant person, but I appreciate looking at lovely botanical arrangements. Overall it wasn't my top experience at a botanical garden, but it was still a nice walk. I'd say it's a couple miles max for the entire walking path. It was much more "planty" than "flowery" but the kids area and cacti were fun. Nice views of the bridge.
There's not a ton of shade, so consider bringing an umbrella. It was horribly hot and no breeze the day I went and I was just dripping.
Apparently the other location is more "trail-y" and less expensive. Two separate entrance fees.

Beautiful place for a relaxing and informative walk through rainforest garden setting. It was especially fun to be guided by a snowy egret who was stalking lizards!
