We stayed here for a family reunion. The rooms were beautiful (though one family member did have a bit of a run down room). 2 queen beds and a pull out couch. The rooms can be adjoining too. It had been rainy and the walk to the beach was a stinky walk through a few inches of brown water (no drainage). eww...

Pool area and bathrooms seemed a bit run down but pool was a nice size and heated.Super nice staff!
Beach was nice and there were so many shells!

My parents said this place is way cheaper than staying on the other side of the island and rooms were bigger.

Room Tip: C18 was a nice room

We have stayed at the Colony twice before and it was fine.We had my wifes sister come to town from up north and she was just cleared from Cancer. So we wanted to take her for a couple days to relax on Sanibel to celebrate. We have been going to Sanibel since 1986 , so we are not newbies. We stayed at the Colony because it has beach access and is quiet.Well, we checked in the first day and when i woke up in the middle of the night to use the washroom, was greeted by a couple large roaches.Thinking it had been damp out, thought it might be a one time thing. So i didnt mention it to my wife or sister in law due to the fact i didnt want them to freak out. Then the next morning, wanted to take my sister in law to the beach. So we walked a distance to find out there was a lake in front of the bridge to get to the beach so we couldnt go for our whole trip. Now we had some rain so i understand, but we have stayed in 20 different places, one in a tropical storm and never dealt with that. So the second night, my wife wakes up in the middle of the night to go to the restroom and is greeted by 4 inch and a half cockroaches. They wanted to leave because they were freaked out and couldnt sleep the rest of the night, but i killed them and convinced them to wait till morning. The next morning, my wife went to the desk expecting maybe some minor credit or something for this episode. They said they were sorry, BYE.We pay good money i Sanibel and expect something better.Gave them a chance to redeem themselves before i wrote this but they declined.I new they would use its raining out and not our responsibility excuse which they did.It rained by our house the same amt. and have no giant bugs.

Great place, great island location, close to Lighthouse. C44 was a beautiful unit with parking only 10 feet from the door. 5 minute walk thru beautful pathway to the beach. Easy reservation system, even with my change of unit choice. Quiet, clean motel type feeling, no mega condos around. The lanai was wonderful with a sweet florida decor and garden view. We stayed 4 nights and felt right at home in this newly remodeled unit with top of the line furnishings and appliances. Nice outside tables and gas grills available for use, located by the nice clean pool area. Great family place. I would highly recommend The Colony.

Room Tip: C44 was gorgeous! I enjoyed the first floor unit w/parking right there. The bldg on far right is q...

My wife and I stayed at this Inn a few weeks ago and were really pleased with it.
We stayed in C46 which was spacious, clean, comfortable and had everything needed for a stay right near the beach.
Great bed, tv in both rooms, good ac and a fully equipped kitchen if you needed to self cater.
People in reception were helpful, you are given a parking ticket to hang in your car and there is adequate parking spaces on site. You can hire bikes from reception but you can get a better deal elsewhere. Laundry facilities are available but we didn't use them, there is also a quiet pool area which again we didn't use as time was at a premium for our stay.
Only a few minutes walk to a lovely beach which was never crowded, this is probably due to the fact there is no parking available so walking is the only option which works just fine. My wife enjoys collecting shells and was in heaven on this island.
I would recommend this Inn and definitely return there in future.

This was one of the few condos with only a 2-night minimum, which was all we had time for. We stayed in C-45. Pros: nicely furnished & decorated, well equipped (including beach chairs, umbrella & toys), short walk to the beach, which was never crowded. Cons: living room was dark, A/C unit was noisy.
