Husband and I stayed here my birthday weekend after doing Peddle Pub tour with friends. Was able to walk everywhere downtown.

Clean, safe, friendly and updates.

Breakfast consists of hard boiled eggs, cereal, bagels, muffins and yogurt.

Lobby was nicely decorated for Christmas!

Would definately stay again.

Comfortable little Inn with a location that is suitable for walking around downtown. Chihuly and Dahli are very each jaunts if you like the museums...and I do. The bed and room were quiet, intimate andd very clean. Get to know owners, Stephanie and Brian. They know the city well and will give you good advice, with a smile.

Room Tip: It's a quiet area...all rooms seem equal.

The inn is convenient to the downtown and museums however it is in need of a thorough airing, as well as some updating and a few easy to fix touches would help to make it worth the price and a more pleasant place to vacation.

Our room was tiny and the strong moldy/ musty smell was overpowering. The window opened but would not stay up so it made airing out the room challenging.
The bed had an old creaky spring mattress that was too soft, and thin cheap sheets and cover. The pillows had a heavy sham that matched the cover and made me wonder if it were washed between guests. If not were we supposed to put our heads on them?

The bathroom was clean, though again the towels were thin and tiny...new big soft towels and some nicer bathing amenities would go far to balance the room with the price.

The breakfast was ok..coffee..varied baked goods..yogurt..fruit. There was a mini fridge in the room as well.

We are very sorry to hear that your expectations have not been met.
We'd like to take the opportunity to respond to some of your complaints.

First of all, we'd greatly appreciate it if you could contact us directly and let us know which room you stayed in. We'd like to check up on the mattress, as our guests sleep is important to us. If the mattress creaks/squeaks then we need to get it sorted out. In regards to it being too soft for you, please keep in mind that mattress comfort is a very personal preference. What is too soft for one, might be just right for the next, or even too firm for the guest prior. It's a hard one to get right.

All of our bath towels have been replaced this past late summer/early fall, and are sorted out/replaced as needed. So they are fairly new on an ongoing basis. We do not use fabric softener, so they might not be as fluffy as your towels at home.

Our bathroom amenities (soaps, lotion, shampoo, etc.) are of a very nice quality, and we get many compliments on them. We've been through many different collections over the past 11 years, and this by far has been our, and a guest favorite. Of course, there are even nicer collections out there, but the price/value comparison is just not there. I have yet to stay at a hotel (no matter what price range) that offers it's guests make-up remover towelettes. We do.

Our "cheap" bed spreads and pillow shams cost $220 per set (cover and 2 shams), so for the average person, definitely not a cheap item to purchase. Yes the coverlet is thin, but an extra blanket is in the closet if needed.
They are washed at least with every other guest checkout, if stained, even during a guests stay. Most hotels (all of us here have worked in many prior to running our own inn), wash the bedspreads/shams/coverlets etc. maybe once a week or as necessary only. Have you ever noticed that most hotels use multicolored, patterned bedding? It hides stains very well. Ours are white, no hiding stains or prolonged use with them. Also, the shams are decorative only, regular covered pillows are on the beds, with extras in the closet.

Yes, our rooms are small. We do not use special lenses or photo shop to make them appear bigger on our site, or any other travel site. What you see online, is exactly what we offer, and if you call and ask, you will get an honest answer. Plus, many of our previous guests reviews mention the small room size as well. It is a downside of the historic nature of our inn, but considering that pretty much every guest who comes to stay with us is out exploring St. Pete and all it has to offer, and has only very little time to spend in the room, it has proven to be a very minimal negative for our guests.

With all this said, we again apologize for your sub par experience and wish you happy travels in the future.

Sincerely,

Stephanie & Brian Cox

We love this place - very welcoming and cozy and convenient. Only stayed for one night again for a concert at the Mahaffey theater - super clean, nice Happy Hour, great breakfast. Chatted to some really nice people. Plenty of space to park in the parking lot.
Just perfection! Oh and thanks Brian for bringing my husband in to the mainstream (Uber was a great success). Hope to return soon.
