We are a family of 6 people (4 adults and 2 children) and paid an expensive $600 per night for a 2 bed suite (2210). This was our 3rd (and probably last visit). We stayed for 4 nights.

Initially i had a few problems booking the hotel, staff were slow at responding to reservation enquiries however eventually spoke to Katie Mulford (via Facebook) who hurried things along for me so thanks for that. Front desk guy Gary was very nice and efficient. We arrived about midday but room was unavailable until 3.50pm.

Arrived at room to find a party taking place on landing in the next room (or next but one) with maybe 4 couples smoking from what can only be described as a "bong", dreadful obscene language and extremely loud (but not aggressive). The bellboy arrived with the cases and the party asked him if he wanted a can of beer ..... i said can you help ....... he told me to call front desk :-( ..... Called front desk and they sent security which seemed to help. Later though it got worse again so i went to reception (apparently they were Wedding Guests that was taking place at the hotel) and again security sorted the issue. About midnight it started all over again, i called front desk and toid them to send a security guy up and not to leave until it was sorted. The noise stopped until i realised that they had gone to beach which meant my son could not get to sleep in the lounge as they were right outside his window ........ grrrrrrrr. Anyway i complained again on the following morning when i was told they were checking out that day ........ :-)

The rest of the holiday was a lot smoother and we really enjoyed the resort. The pools and beach were really clean and all the staff were very nice especially Jordon in Beef o Bradys restaurant / bar. The food was good out of the Flying Bridge, Bermudas and Beef o Bradys.

The resort fee covers most things but you still have to pay for the war slide and beach activities which can work out expensive.

To summarise, the room was nice and clean and everything worked however for $600 per night at least the water slide for the kids should be free. We had our Honeymoon at this hotel and this was our 3rd visit, will i be back ...... probably not because of the problems on the first night. I realise that this was not the hotels fault and the problems were sorted relatively quickly but the "problem" guests should have been moved immediately (or at the very least our party moved).

Any questions just message me.

Room Tip: Get a room with the bedroom at the beach side of the property. The "inner" courtyard room...

We were fortunate to be staying in a newly renovated room in the Jacaranda building. The room was average-sized -- fine for the two of us.
The balcony was smaller than expected but adequate. However, each balcony is open to the next, so there is no privacy. The glass doors to the balconies had double locks because anybody could go from balcony to balcony. The view from the balcony was great.
The bed was comfortable.
The water pressure was barely acceptable.
The room cleaning was very prompt.
There was a severe storm the day of our arrival and the carpeting just inside the glass door to the balcony was quite wet. I reported it but noone ever did anything about it. I ended up putting the rubber bath mat over the wet spot.
The television wouldn't change channels when we arrived. I called and was told it was because of the storm. Someone came up promptly and fixed the channel changing by unplugging and replugging the TV, but he seemed annoyed about the whole thing. The special features, like premium movies, still couldn't be accessed, but I didn't bother to call again.
We had a breakfast in Bermuda's, one of the hotel restaurants. My food from the buffet was good once I had the waitress heat it up in the microwave.
This is a large sprawling complex. We were glad there was an adults only pool.
There were lots of children's activities, so the place could be a zoo when school is out.
There are some good restaurants within walking distance and plenty more only a short drive away. The gelato at Larry's was great.
The hotel was expensive but I had checked out other places and found it to be competitively priced. I didn't appreciate the mandatory resort fee but it did cover quite a bit.
Although we enjoyed our stay, there were enough shortcomings, particularly the water pressure, that I would try to find an alternative if we ever return to the area. We had stayed on Sanibel Island for several nights first and preferred the peace and quiet. This hotel is more for party people or families with young children, which we are not.

We plan to return to Tradewinds for a third year next Spring. It really gives us something to look forward too. The area has much to offer...solitude or action. Plenty of restaurants, boat rentals, eco-tour trips for dolphin watching, snorkeling etc...manatee swims to the North and activities 30 min. away in Tampa (Aquarium/Busch Gardens/Tampa Zoo). The hotel is clean and my standards are high. It is a popular spot so I hope they continue to keep the place up. Our 8 yr old daughter enjoys the kids club and pirate show. Restaurants are good in the hotel, especially enjoy lunch from "Flying Bridge" by pool and "Sharktooth Tavern" at night for entertainment. Many other offerings in the area, for a nice treat try "Snappers" across the street for dinner or "Skidders" for a satisfying breakfast. We enjoyed the wallhooky games randomly placed around the hotel so much that we purchased one for our own yard. Convenient drive from Tampa airport and you can find anything you need in the area in case you forget to pack something. Can't wait to go back!

The place was absolutely stunning and extremely clean. Room's were top notch and gorgeous. The grounds are amazing and there is so much to do. The food at the restaurants was amazing and the prices were fantastic. This is definitely THE hotel to stay at no matter what your travel purposes are. By far the best hotel on the Gulf. I will be staying here many times in the future and I will recommend The Tradewinds to anyone who is staying in the area. The staff is very friendly and when we were arriving and leaving the hotel someone always opened the door for us which was very neat. I cannot say enough good things about this hotel, it was just absolutely astonishing!

Room Tip: I stayed in a parlour room and its a little larger than the regular hotel rooms.
