“Excellent!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 April 2012

I can hardly fault our stay; it was excellent in every way. It is a historic landmark that is now a boutique hotel and it is by far the best hotel in St Augustine and the location is unbeatable.

The first room they gave us was not great as we arrived late and it was Easter but they swiftly moved us to another room the next day as soon as one become available. It was very comfortable with a great view over the Lightner museum and furnished in keeping with the hotel's age and history. I disagree that the rooms are small as some other reviewers have commented. In my opinion they are average.

The food was of a high standard (fantastic breakfast and dinner menus plus an on-site Starbucks) and the service was both efficient and very friendly. Extras at the hotel such as valet parking, entrance to the beach club seven miles away and breakfast are expensive but we got a great deal through Virgin and our package was very good value for money. Unusually for a town centre hotel it has a very nice pool and sunbathing area at the back. My only criticism is that while the loungers look very stylish the frames are metal and in the hot Florida sun soon become too hot to touch. It also has a small but well equipped gym - very handy after the huge portions served everywhere.

We stayed for 9 nights and would have gladly stayed longer. The town of St Augustine is probably my favorite destination in Florida as it is so picturesque with loads to see and do plus a great beach. Highly recommended

Thank you for sharing your experience at Casa Monica and in our nation's oldest city. I am thrilled that you enjoyed your extended visit. Many of our guests try to absorb so much that this city has to offer in such a very short time. A nine day visit, although many cannot break away for such an extended period, allows you to really absorb the history and culture of St. Augustine. I appreciate you choosing Casa Monica for your home and hope you have the opportunity to visit again.

That's all I can say, it was a beautiful hotel in a gorgeous area. Convenient to everything but for the price it was very small.

Thank you for sharing. I am sorry that you were not happy with the size of your guestroom. One of the nuances of this historic building is that no two rooms are exactly alike and even within the same type of room there may be a variance in space. We like to encourage the selection of the Premium room type for guests that require more space. These rooms have considerably more area than the standard rooms with additional seating as well. I hope you return in the near future.

My husband and I live only 1 hour from St. Augustine Florida, but it still feels like a true get away when we travel there. We recently stay at the Casa Monica Hotel and what a treat. It's a fully restored landmark in the heart of the historic district, with incredible art hanging throughout the hotel. Horse drawn carriages are at your doorstep, and it's perfect location allows you to walk anywhere in the city. The Hotel also provides you the option of using the Seranata Beach club in near by Vilano/Ponte Vedra Beach (15 mins away) They will provide transportation to and from the club which boast three pools, a full restaurant and bar, and of course the beautiful Atlantic Ocean. The rooms at the hotel are a bit small for the cost, however this is due to maintaining the hotels historical origins. All rooms are well appointed and the beds and bedding were of high quality. The pool area has such a boutique feel sitting open to the sunshine but nestled in the middle of the second floor of the hotel. Very private and luxurious with it's stripped black and white awnings and bed like cabanas. We also received excellent service while there and can't wait to return.

Thank you for sharing your experience and kind comments. It is nice to drive such a short distance and still have the feel that you are in a European town. Such a convenience for our guests that have an impulse to get away for a couple of days without so much planning! I hope you plan on many of these in the future.

Stayed three nights in this historic property which has been fully refurbished and updated. Great location in the center of the city, very clean and efficient with outstanding staff. The lighting is a bit dim in the rooms and they could use a few more electrical outlets, but someplace we want to return to. St. Augustine is a bit of a tourist town so expect families with kids running in the halls.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the park entrance.

I appreciate your comments and am thrilled that you enjoyed your experience at Casa Monica and St. Augustine. During this spring break time of year we experience quite a few more families than usual and hopefully the children in the halls were not disruptive to your privacy. Thank you for your understanding. Please visit again soon and continue your discovery in our nation's oldest city.

We only stayed one night at the Casa Monica, and did not know what to expect from an older hotel. I was really surprised at the room we were given, the room was a very nice size, modern, but, attention to details such as a four poster bed etc. made the room also look very classic. The room was well equiped with a fridge large flat screen TV a coffee maker, and a nice size bathroom.
The location of the hotel is excellent, it is in the center of St. Augustine, you can walk to most sights and many resturants, even though one of the best resturants in town is right at the hotel.
The hotel is a little pricey, but if you want a nice hotel in a great location this is the place.

Room Tip: We had a premium room, I would recommend that type of room.

Thank you for sharing your experience. At the Casa Monica we have 138 guestrooms and no two rooms are exactly alike. This is one of the nuances of this historic hotel. The Premium rooms are the favorite choice among our guests. Yes, they cost a bit more than the standard rooms but the favorite features include the additional space and seating, refrigerators, and wet bars. They also have preferred views of the historic district. Please come again soon.
