We decided to take this Sunset and Dolphin Watching cruise as part of ananniversary/Mothers Day celebration. The boat is a nice catamaran with a friendly staff of three. Not quite knowing what to expect we arrived 30 minutes early and waited by the dock. Before boarding we were given a few rules and then line up to board. A photographer took everyones photo as we boarded and sold them very reasonably as we departed. The crowd was around 40 people. The captain had a great sense of humor and cranked up some good music as we left the channel and made our way to the ocean. Staff pointed out several dolphins and the crowd got into the search.
We got to see Shell Island and St Andrews State Park from the water which was great as it gives one a feel for the land around you.
Small snacks and reasonably priced beer, rum punch and soft drinks were available for purchase. While a few people found seats a half deck below the top deck, many sat along the edges of the boat topside for beautiful views. The water was not too choppy and the sunset was hid from view but that didn’t stop people from having a great time. On the ride back the crew played several line dance songs and those with good humor danced away! No one had an issue with sea sickness and the handicapped were welcome. Everyone got off with a smile.
Overall, it was lovely time. We laughed with other passengers, danced, and enjoyed the ride. We would easily suggest this for families and first time dolphin sightseers as they were abundant and give the ride a five star rating for that.
As we so enjoy sailing, I gave it four stars for the casual couples ride we hoped it would be. Our issue, not the boats. We might consider a private charter the next time as we like small groups.
