Marriott's Ocean Pointe
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 22 April 2012

Ocean Pointe never disappoints. My family have been returning to this resort for the last 5 years. The rooms are great, clean, with all the amenities of home. There are views of the ocean from every room and the pool and grounds are great for the whole family. With young children there is great security and lots of activities for the children, both ones that are free and that cost extra. The beach is very convenient to access and the marina on the other side is full of energy and activity.

We purchase these rentals from the Redweek site and have had nothing but great experiences. I have strongly recommended this resort to others in my immediate family and friends and everyone has been very impressed with this property. We always look forward to returning each March break.

This is not a property that a young couple would book, but for families with young children, or trips with extended family it is an excellent destination. The airport is only a 15 minute drive away, and only 45 minutes from Fort Lauderdale international.

I strongly recommend this resort for a relaxing family vacation.

Room Tip: Book through Redweek.com. If you have a family of 4 or more look to book a one bedroom with king an...

I exchanged my timeshare for this resort, and I was very happy. As an exchange guest, I had low priority in term of room assignment. I was in Pompano level 1, but the resort was pretty compact, I did not feel that we had to walk that much. Room was clean. Check in was quick. Hotel had 4 large pools and was right next to the beach. There were not that many good restaurants within walking distance. Sailfish Marina is 3 blocks away. You can take water taxi from there to peanut island or do a fishing trip. A lot of people go to Publix for grocery and cook in their room or use the hotel's grills for BBQ. Singer island is an up and coming area. There are a lot of construction. I had no problem walking at 9pm from Sailfish Marina to the hotel.

We went for a girls trip, there were four of us. When I exchanged I thought I was getting a two bedroom unit but didn't. I tried multiple times to get a larger unit but we were stuck with a studio. It was really cramped for us four women. We were able to get all of our clothes, etc into the 2 closets and one dresser but then we didn't have anywhere to store our luggage. We made it work but if you're looking for privacy or spacious living quarters you'll definitely need a larger unit. Oh and the studio doesn't have a full kitchen, just a mini-fridge, microwave and small kitchen. They do provide utensils, plates, glasses, etc.
The rooms and pools have been updated nicely. The bathrooms still have outdated tile, lighting, vanities and toilets...we didn't spend much time in there though. The pull-out couch was decent and the king bed was a typical Marriott bed. We stayed in the King Fish Building, which is farthest from the main lobby and main pool area; but that also means fewer kids and very close beach access! If you are traveling with kids and want a kiddie pool this is definitely not an option for you. The KF Building does have it's own pool and hot tub and poolside cafe. As with most Vacation Clubs there were not nearly enough pool chairs. The rules we were handed upon check-in stated that reserving chairs was not allowed and that if towels were there for more than 45 minutes they would be moved...saw this happen one time and that's all. It's just annoying that older people who wake up earlier can get down to the pool by 7am and reserve chairs for their entire extended family. It just meant we spent more time on the beach. There are beach chairs for rent through an outside company, $50/day if you reserve more than one day.
The poolside cafe at the King Fish Building serves limited food items but does offer a full bar and some delicious cocktails! Happy Hour everyday from 11am-1pm and 5pm-6pm was our favorite! There is a full service cafe at the main pool where you can get the Marriott Burger :). The main building and pools are just a short walk down the beach or down the sidewalk.
There was parking under the building structure so it was nice to have a cooler car when it we got in it each day.
Pool towels are provided in your room and if you want fresh ones you have to call room service.
The beach is public so non-guests can access it but it wasn't ever crowded and you have to have a room key to get access to the resort.
There are two new restaurants that are within walking distance and are just typical beach restaurants but worth the visit.
We would definitely stay here again and I think stay in the same building. It's a very relaxing, quiet, nice beach vacation. It's a great resort for friends, families or couples!!

We came here for my Grandma's 70th birthday. There was a total of 22 of us and we all had a blast (12 kids). The rooms were very clean and nice. There was always something for the kids to do like water polo, mini golf, the Iron Chef Competition. The pools are great but since we went during Spring Break it was difficult to get chairs. Many people would reserve chairs even though you're not supposed to. At the ocean, you have to rent chairs. I forget how much it was a day to rent chairs but it was annoying. The Marriott made our family adventure perfect!

First - this is palm beach shores - NOT palm beach. Very different places. Second, the drive in from 95 isn't charming - much nicer, although a bit further, is to drive in by the palm beach garden mall and along the top of Singer Island. The rooms are the "lock-off" configuration with the second bedroom as a small efficiency. Well-decorated, clean, nice big windows. There are two parts to the resort. The main resort has the Marketplace, large pool, workout facilities, beach bar, kids pool area, shuffleboard, putt-putt, etc. Kingfish building is separate from the main resort - you have to walk (or drive -it has its own parking) about a block down the street (or beach) past a pink apartment building. It is next to the main channel for the port and also backs up to the beach. There is a pump-out station next to the channel that does hurt the view a bit on this side. It is definitely more quiet at this part of the resort - but still has its own concierge, a nice pool, and a pool-side bar (open 11a-6p). It is fun to watch the cruise ships go by as well. With young kids the main resort might be more appealing (just a shorter walk to get to their pool area). Otherwise, better chance of water views on the kingfish end.
