BEWARE! This hotel does a Bait and Switch with room reservations. We did not get the room we booked. We got the worst room in the place! It's very small, barren, no decorations, no tables, chairs to sit at. Furniture was dull and in need of repair. I have seen better rooms for less money at the Holiday Inn. I do not see how this resort rates a Gold Crown Rating.

The check in staff doesn't care whether their guests are happy or not. We asked to be moved several times and they would not move us. We asked to speak to the reservations manager who was never around.

The restaurant was rarely open for something to eat. So don't count on eating there. The indoor pool and hot tub are so full of chlorine that your eyes and throat will burn using them.

All rooms are ocean front so that is nice. There is a nice outside area with grills to cook your own food on, a kids play area, a kiddie pool, large adult pool, shuffle board, basketball court and 9 hole putt putt course. All these are nice.

If your looking for a luxury 5 star hotel room forget it!!!! Parking is underground and the roof of the garage feels like it's going to cut through the cars roof. I hated the parking garage. Beds are hard, no pillow top mattresses here. Had to ask for blanket and extra pillows. No blow dryers in room so bring your own. Room was not stocked with pens, paper, phone book, robes, mini shampoos or lotions, or luggage rack to name a few.

I have stayed at some very nice RCI timeshares before that were gorgeous this doesn't make the cut. I would not stay here again!

Just returned from our second stay at the Royal Floridian and found it
to be even better than the first stay - which was GREAT... So great in
fact that we have already scheduled another weeks stay for this November.
In Ormond Beach we have previously stayed at Oceanside 99, Tropic Sun Towers, The Maverick, The Outrigger and Plantation Island and find the Royal Floridian to be vastly superior to all of these.
On our first visit we rented three two-bedroom units and took all of
our children and grandchildren with us. The grandchildren enjoyed the
playground, putt-putt course, indoor pool at night, basketball, and of course the beautiful beach. Of course our children had a great time sitting around the Tiki bar and the outdoor pool.
On our second visit, we took another couple and they were so impressed-as were we- that they are going back with us this year. The only problem we experienced was the flourescent light in the master bath malfunctioned. We reported it to the front desk and they were there in a matter of minutes to fix it.
The staff was always friendly and helpful. They gave us a schedule of
resort activities at check-in and had a guest get-together with coffee and
pastries on Monday to go over activities for the week, which included a
free breakfast, free wine and cheese social, reasonably priced dinners
at the on-site restaurant (we had a delicious all-you-can-eat spaghetti
dinner one evening which was GREAT.), ice cream socials every day, many craft activities for the kids, and lots of other activities.
If you plan on going to Ormond Beach, we highly recommed the Royal
Floridian.

We stayed at the Royal Floridian resort last week and did not find it to be the Gold Crown timeshare advertised. While the staff were all very friendly, the resort is, basically, an old renovated hotel. Unfortunately, the resort does not keep up with routine maintenance as our refrigerator did not work and the icemaker did not work. The refrigerator had to be replaced while we were there. The closet doors in both bedrooms fell off and maintenance could not fix them. The door lock to the balcony had to be totally replaced as it was frozen open. We had to have 47 different entry door key cards re-keyed/re-made as they continually stopped working during our stay. When we went to use the pull out couch we found half eaten food, candy, and sand in it. The windows had not been washed and were covered, on the inside, with fingerprints, spilled liquid, etc. The "new" couch was filthy with, what appeared to be, spilled soft drinks and ground in food. We had to ask twice for someone to clean it, as we stuck to it when we sat down. We were unable to play basketball because the resort was catering to bikers who were coming in for bike week by using the basketball court for motorcycle trailer parking space. The best thing about this resort, and its saving grace, is that it is right on the beach. If it were anywhere else I doubt they would have repeat business.

I have stayed in hotels at Daytons before. On advice from a friend of ours, we rented one of the time share properties at the Royal Floridian Resort right on Daytona Beach. We were floored! The place was beautiful. It was full of luxury. It had a kids night of Friday nights. It had a tiki bar, a miniature golf course, indoor and outdoor pools, an exercise room, a sauna, a hot tub...you name it they had it. The staff was more than professional. The resort so clean it sparkled. This looked like a place where the Hilton girls would stay. All the guests were lovely to talk to. The apartments sleep six to eight people and have private entrances. Entire floors are smoking or non-smoking! I can't say enough about it. I would prefer to rent a time share anyday of the week. This was the best! I can't put any web site addresses in this review but feel free to email me directly and I will tell you how to rent them myself. The deals are wonderful and you just can't beat it.
