We stayed here in February and the service was horrible. When speaking to management it was like they condoned their employees behavior. The only thing good about this place was the bed.

We've stayed here twice now- 2011 and 2012. Cleaner and better the second time. They're doing a nice job taking care of it. The location is excellent. The staff is friendly and helpful. Whenever I spend $79 for a hotel, I'm not expecting much, but this place always exceeds my expectations. The big reason we stay here though is that my daughter adores the pool. It's super warm, very large and shallow with lion fountains spewing water into it. There's a very warm hot tub too. It's a surprisingly lovely pool and pool area, and always the highlight for my 10 year old daughter. Room was clean and comfortable. Everything worked. Air handling system was a bit loud, but not too loud that we couldn't sleep or anything.

We had a nice 2-night stay at the Monumental Hotel while we were in Orlando. The hotel is easy to find on South I-drive and has easy access to Seaworld & Discovery Cove (the reason for our stay). The entryway is really nice and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The pool area is a bit run-down and they could definitely provide more loungers but the pool is nice (and heated) and the jacuzzi was hot and located near the pool. The rooms are average but clean and the bed was comfortable (we had a single king room). Parking is at the opposite end of the building from the rooms which does make for a long walk, but we travel light. There is a trolly stop right in front of the hotel but you can not buy passes on the property or on the trolley. The hotel had a list of places that the pass could be purchased from. We did not use the wi-fi but overall we had a nice stay at a reasonable price. Note...the hotel does charge a $6.75/night "resort fee." I'm not sure what the fee is for, the hotel doesn't provide anything special, but just know that it is there.

Stayed there for a convention meeting Feb 21 to 23rd. Never heard of this place before, but picked it as part of an American Airlines package because it WASNT a chain hotel.
Excellent location, just a couple of miles south of the convention center, easy drive by car.
Rooms very quiet, well insulated from noise, with fridge.
Bed and pillows very comfortable, AC provided good cooldown.
Free internet in room, bring your own cable, it's not wireless, but they do have cables available downstairs if you forget.
Spa and heated pool were great!
Parking was good.
Thought it was an excellent value.
Front desk manager gave excellent recommendations for dinner locations - try Tavern Opas at the Pointe Center for a fun Greek food experience!
Good dining is only a few minutes away at the Pointe Center, or the Denny's and fast food places are even closer, as is the CVS Rx store with all the snacks and sodas you need. Even a "package" store for picking up beverages.
Only downside for me was the lack of breakfast service during the week. I think they had meals available for breakfast lunch and dinner on Fri, Sat, and Sunday, but nothing during the week for business travelers. Fortunately, a donut shop and a Dennys' on the way to the Convention Center.
It would be a great couples place, the pool and spa would be more fun when shared, and it would be nice to have breakfast available without going "out" for it.
I will definitely book again !

We stayed three nights at the Monumental in February. We didn't know what to expect after having had a hard time choosing from numerous Orlando hotels through the internet. We were looking for a good value place: good location, some comfort, at a reasonable price.
We were pleasantly surprised. Although the Monumental is not centrally located in the midst of the Orlando action, it compensates that with an I-trolley stop right in front, which will get you everywhere on International Road. If you have a car, like we had, you couldn't be better off, because there 's a large parking right next to the hotel. Since it is not located along the main road, there's no street noise.
The room (pool view) was spacious, the bed king size and very comfortable, as was the bathroom.
The lady at the reception was very friendly.
TV was O.K., but a flat screen would be nice.
