Doubletree by Hilton Orlando at SeaWorld

We have just spent 2 weeks at this amazing hotel and I have to say I have never known staff to be more friendly and helpful than the staff at the Doubletree at Seaworld. It is easy to praise a hotel when everything goes well but I always think that the REAL test of customer service is how a company deals with problems when they arise. Our stay started off on a bad note as we are a party of 10 with 4 rooms and we had requested that at least 2 of our rooms had an interconnecting door so that we could be next to our 3 children, however, our tour operator did not pass on this request to the hotel. When we checked in, we discovered that our rooms were not together and as the hotel was fully booked for our first night, there was no way that they could accommodate our request. I was extremely upset about this and it has to be said that I made quite a scene (I didn't realise at this point that the tour operator hadn't passed on our request). the lovely Julia on reception was very patient with me and dealt with me in a very kind manner even though I was being quite difficult (I had been travelling for 24 hours and was extremely tired). The manager of the hotel came to assist us and he asked us if we would take the rooms for one night and then move rooms after the first night, as a goodwill gesture for the inconvenience and upset (which it then transpired was caused by our tour operator and not the hotel) he upgraded our full party to the Tower Rooms. The staff moved all of our baggage to the new rooms which were fantastic rooms. From that moment on, the staff could not do enough to help and always exceeded our expectations. Whatever our request or question, they were always helpful and friendly and genuinely appeared to care that their guests were happy. The manager even made a point of checking in with us after a couple of days to ensure we were happy with our new rooms etc. I also have to mention the lovely Val, who is the owner of the most gorgeous smile you will ever see. Val's friendly face is there to meet you as you enter the hotel lobby and he always has the time to chat to the guests and is always on hand to help. He is a real star, we all felt like we were leaving a friend when we said goodbye to Val. Apart from the excellent staff and service the hotel has beautiful pools and grounds, the tower rooms are beautiful (probably worth paying a little more for). I would definately recommend a meal or two in the Hotel Restaurant (Bamboo Grill), the prices are very fair and the food is a cut above, they serve everything from a delicious grilled steak pasta and freshly caught seafood to ribs and the best burger in town. The ages of the people in our party ranged from 14 to 65 and all 10 of us agreed without exception that for service, friendliness and value for money this hotel is unbeatable. We were all really sad to leave. I would urge anyone to stay at this hotel and if you do, please say hello to Val from us!!!

Room Tip: We spent our first night in the low storey resort blocks and although the rooms were absolutely fine...

I stayed last week at the Doubletree at SeaWorld, Orlando for five days to attend a conference. Upon entering the lobby, my hopes were sanguine that this would be a pleasant stay, despite the rather off-putting coconut-based air freshener pervading everywhere. The high-vaulted ceiling was pleasantly offset by three tall palms, and the lobby was well lit with ceiling windows. My worries began with the lobby staff, who were at best mechanically polite, machine-gun reciting their welcome spiel with no attempt to hide the automaton-boredom in their voices.
My remaining optimism was dashed as I walked though to the bar area and beyond. The palm trees of the lobby were replaced by a dank and dim area, with brown-painted and peeling piping criss-crossing the ceilings and a strong smell of overused cooking fat.
The décor was straight from the eighties, and appeared not to have seen a lick of paint since then. The room was slightly smelly and of a dark décor, and the bathroom was dingy. The shower had curtains which barely made it to the bottom, and the shower head squirted water unevenly. There was no minibar and no free wifi in the rooms – this was available only in the lobby, restaurant, and bars and was painfully slow. Lastly, I discovered that the piping providing water to my toilet was leaking (I first had thought I had been careless with placing the curtain when showering). I informed the lobby a full two days before I left about this, but nothing had been done by the time I gratefully escaped.
Amazingly, the wifi didn’t even extend to the four conference rooms we were occupying. These also had only four mains sockets, two of which were needed for the main computer and projector. So the conference attendees had to hope their laptops would last the five or six hours on battery power – that’s one way to ensure everyone listens to the lectures and doesn't get distracted by emails, etc!
The food was wretched. One small ray of sunshine were the bar and restaurant staff, who were genuinely friendly and helpful.
There were two pools. One was OK, if a little removed from the other facilities. The main pool with the bar blasted out terrible music from seven in the morning till late into the night. The sports/fitness center was good, although twice there were no plastic cups left for the water fountain.
One of the worse hotel experiences of my life.

Just back today and couldnt wait to add a review . We had 2 rooms on the upper level in Block 14.
It was a pefect location very quiet and close by a lovely pool for the children. The rooms are immaculate and cleaned daily. Crabtree abd Evelyn toiletries and no lack of them. Tea and coffee facilities are also in rooms. All of the staff were really friendly and helpful and nothing was any trouble to them. As mentioned in other reviews the hot cookies on arrival are a bit special and you only need to ask for more. We found all the hotel facilities to be great and the hotel was immaculately clean throughout.
A perfect location with i trolley and lynx bus stops just outside, couldnt be nearer!

Wouldnt hesitate to recommend to afriend and would stay again without doubt.

You cannot find a friendlier or more helpful group of hotel staff in Orlando, I am convinced! From the minute you arrive and the bell staff greet you to when you check out. YOU are important to these people no matter who you are or how you are dressed. You will NEVER have to hunt long to find someone to help - hotel is excellently staffed to make your stay worth it! Dog friendly too!

You can walk to SeaWorld (across the street) but it is a good 15 minute one......

Room Tip: Depends on what you like - for smokers only two choices of buildings - either the tower 7th floor or...

We stayed here as a family of four over the Easter holidays. Check in was swift and friendly (the reception staff, especially the Bellmen are a credit to this hotel) and were taken to our deluxe room overlooking the main pool as requested. The grounds are gorgeous with three pools, well-kept mature gardens and waterfalls. The foyer and reception area are very luxurious and the general ambience is very pleasing with soft Caribbean music playing around the pools (where there are comfortable sunbeds and fresh towels provided) and a lovely holiday vibe. There is a snack/cocktail bar at the pool, which is open from midday until late evening.
Our room was spacious with two lovely big, comfortable beds and plenty of pillows- the most comfortable beds we have ever enjoyed on holiday. We had a flat screen TV with plenty of Disney channels for the children to enjoy and a kitchen area with fridge, microwave and great tea and coffee making facilities with fresh supplies provided every day. There was a desk area, an armchair, iron and ironing board and hairdryer -all very welcome. The vanity area was spacious and could be screened off from the main room and the shower was great with fresh soft towels and fabulous Crabtree and Evelyn products supplied on daily.
The facilities at this hotel are excellent with a lovely restaurant - free breakfast for the children, which was good as a little pricey - a lunchtime and evening menu, bar menu, room-service, poolside menu and Max's deli where you could get salads/pizza/hotdogs and also prepare breakfast if you don't want the full Monty in the main restaurant. There is a lovely gift and snack shop also. Across the road, which has a pedestrian crossing (which people only seem to stop at if you are actually crossing!) is the Village Inn (just average) and a few other snack places but just a bit further along, around the corner is Delmonico's, a New York/Italian style restaurant that we would highly recommend, definitely our favourite restaurant.
The hotel also provided fun things for the children over the Easter weekend as well as a film screening at the main pool one night a week.
The laundry facilities were also great and we managed to get all our washing done while we lounged around the pool - much better than taking it all home! There are ample computers (use the business centre to check emails and reserve flights/seats as the others are blocked for this).
Transportation is fine with free shuttles provided to most parks (at set times of day) and the 111 link bus to fill in the gaps. The I ride trolley got us around the rest of the time but got very crowded at night. Cabs are plentiful and not overly expensive ($22 to Universal - $35 to Magic Kingdom area). My advice is to get kitted out with all the timetables ASAP, get familiar with it all and make a few plans.
We had a wonderful holiday (much thanks to this hotel and its staff for making it so) and met lots of lovely people (the plastics convention folks were great company!) and would defintely return here in the future.

Room Tip: The Deluxe bungalow rooms have excellent facilites and are perfect if you like to look out over the...
