My husband and I stayed recently for our 20th anniversary. It was our second visit to to the hotel and everything was exactly as I expected it. It's a beautiful piece of property with excellent service. We especially like the boat rides to the Magic Kingdom.

I just returned from Wildnerness Lodge with my husband and 2 young children. WOW! The room was ready upon check in. The staff was fantastic. The pool area was beautiful. They have a boat launch to Magic Kingdom that takes exactly 5 minutes to get to the main entrance and it was never crowded. You can see the Electrical Pageant from the beach every night. The Whispering Canyon Cafe was incredible. If there was even the slightest downside, it would be that the hotel is a little far from parks other than Magic Kingdom. We rented a car and was glad that we did. Would I stay there again? In a heartbeat!

We chose to stay at Wilderness Lodge on our most recent trip to Walt Disney World. We enjoyed our stay and have no complaints. All staff we encountered were quite pleasant. Room size was good with plenty of closet and drawer space. We loved the double sinks in the vanity area. We were on the 6th floor with a view of the lake. Dinner at Whispering Canyon Cafe was fun for our grandkids(and the grownups)- the staff has lots of fun with the guests. Make sure to walk around the grounds, check out the waterfall, walk past the geyser. Typical Disney property with outstanding attention to detail in landscaping and theme decor. Beautiful, impressive lobby.

In my opinion, this is the best place to stay in Disneyworld. It's the lowest price of all of the deluxe resorts, and it's still close enough for boats/monorails to get to the Magic Kingdom and other attractions.
The Wilderness Lodge is also a little more off of the beaten path than the Contemporary and the other monorail resorts. This means less people wandering the lobby etc. At Christmas, this is a pretty big deal. Disney was insanely crowded at Christmas, and this hotel was like a little haven away from it all. I love love love the little boardwalk/pier where you get off of the MK boat and walk to the hotel. It's so quiet, you'd hardly guess where you were.
The rooms seem a little dark, but that kind of adds to the ambience there. You are supposed to feel like you are in the Pacific Northwest, and they do a great job.
My husband and I have stayed here twice and been upgraded both times. The first time we came, we got upgraded to the concierge floor which was wonderful. Incidentally, concierge floor guests can go on a special safari in the Animal Kingdom. It cost us about $100 each, and it was TOTALLY worth it. It was a three hour behind the scenes tour of the safari ride. Awesome.
I have just two more weird facts - 1. this is the hotel Michael Eisner and family used to stay at when they were in town as well. I guess they must have liked the non-crowded feel as well. and 2. This is the hotel that they move Disney guests to when there are hurricanes in the area, so if you were going to be there during hurricane season, you might like to be in your own room.

Room Tip: upgraded at this (and other Disney hotels) when we wanted one king bed as opposed to 2 queens or bun...

Family and I spent a few days at Disney last week during the tail end of our vacation. Stayed at the Wilderness Lodge Club Level. Highly recommend. "Cast members" made us feel like we were the only guests in the lodge. Breakfast, brunch, snack room were the best. Always had good options for food to choose from and kept us more than satisfied. The Hotel itself is beautiful. Pool is okay...not as good as Yacht and Beach club...but the hospitality is 2nd to none. Been to several of the different hotels on Disney property...this was by far our favorite.

Room Tip: If you want more of a "view" request the pool side. I recommend going with the "club...
