Second visit to Animal Kingdom (first one was 6 years ago). Not sure what has gone wrong, but this was by far our worst Disney park, and definitely not worth it when compared to the other parks or Universal.
The fundamental key issue is that the park has too few rides, with low carrying capacity, far from each other and with little to no facilities to cope with the heat (even simple things like getting a cup of ice proved challenging in this park). This makes the experience tiring, hot and challenging for kids.
One big disappointment: Lightning Lanes are a ripoff in this park. We could only book 3 initial activities + 1 additional one. All the other ones were maxed out by ~10am (and we went in one of the weeks with lowest attendance of the year...). Very different vs. Magic K or Disney Hollywood where LL purchases definitely make sense.
All in all, I don't think we're going back. It's a shame because Avatar Rite of Passage is nice, Everest is awesome, and we know the Lion King show is great (couldn't attend the show due to LL being unavailable and over 75' lines).
