Escalante is a little oasis in the middle of Naples' busy restaurants and shops on 5th. My husband and I really prefer smaller boutique hotels vs. the big high rises or chains. The staff welcomed us warmly and was terrific for the entirety of our stay (3 nights). We stayed in a one-bedroom suite, which was nicely decorated and clean, and the bed was especially comfortable. Although we were surrounded by windows, we could pull the blinds and felt comfortable in terms of privacy. The courtyard out back with pool, lovely flowers and plantings, vines, etc. was enchanting. We had the continental breakfast each day because the restaurants on 5th don't open up until 10:00 at the earliest. One of the days, they actually had eggs and bacon in the morning which was really nice. Maria went the extra mile and picked up orange marmalade for my husband (he had asked for it the day before and they did not have it). She did not have to do that but it was such a nice touch. Food at the restaurant was very good and such a nice quiet, romantic courtyard in which to enjoy it.
Only little nits would be lack of replacement of toiletries on a regular basis, no conditioner, and it would be nice if the included breakfast could consistently provide eggs or some kind of protein.
