“Everything you need for a good price!”
Reviewed 27 July 2009

We've stayed at the Lighthouse twice now and both times it has been great. The rooms and property are clean and the pool is a nice size. I liked having the little kitchenette to make morning coffee and toast, its nice not having to eat out for every meal. The property has some rules and the staff are always around to remind you about them, but it wasn't too annoying.

Its located across the street from the beach and the hotel has chairs and umbrellas that other guests left behind that you can borrow. The Turtle Club is a restaurant also directly across the street which has a beachfront restaurant & bar. It is a little expensive but worth the splurge for a special occasion or for a late afternoon rum runner! The Ritz Carlton is walking distance and also has restaurants which are also expensive. Not many other restaurants within walking distance.

We stayed here for one night on our travels in America. We were looking for a non-corporate, budget hotel and this place was advertised as a 'hidden gem' of Naples! It did seem so out of place in it's surroundings as the only wooden construction, 1950's motel in an oasis of gated communities and high-class hotels. The bed was horrible - too small and too hard, the pool was okay but we bumped into too many compatriot Brits for our liking!!! Okay for a night's stay.

The Lighthouse Inn bills itself as “Old Florida” charm, rather it’s more like a nondescript 1962 motel with some nice palm trees, the last vestige of what things were a few decades ago at Vanderbilt Beach. One thing all visitors will agree on is this place is impeccably clean and well maintained. Running and maintaining this generally pleasant property are the owners and staff who provide a low-key down-home type experience. It does seem incongruous in a sea of high rise condos, however.

I stayed here because it is so close to the beach and got a good off-season rate. However you have no view of the ocean and they don’t turn on the heat in the cold pool until the rates nearly double. Unless you are going to eat at the on-site restaurant or the ice cream/pizza shop down the street, there really is nothing in the area for restaurants nor any shopping within walking distance.

You’ll find rooms with the old louvered glass windows and doors. Old time room keys, thick ceramic tiled authentic 50’s bathrooms right down to the really, really small soap. Overall though, decor is of a more modern cutesy style rather than retro. At night, my room had tons of light pouring through the glass door due to the brightly lit up Christmas decorations, right outside. The flimsy curtain doesn’t cut much light out either on the window. And since it’s located on a stretch of residential condos, you may be awakened like I did at 7:00 a.m. by a lawn service with loudly buzzing weed trimmers and running loud lawn mowers across the street. Or, loud garbage or delivery trucks rumbling down the street. Or, the staff who also seem to be up early and out talking and going about their business.

The people at the Lighthouse Inn are originally from Ohio. They are very nice but sometimes have that typical Ohio abruptness. The point will be made that all the Vanderbilt Beach condos are owned by people in Ohio, who will all be soon coming down, from Ohio. Well I guess Ohio owns Vanderbilt Beach or something. Ok. Whatever.

Overall this is not a bad property, nor a great one. It is what it is. Two and a half stars. It is NOT a “B&B” type establishment as listed by this site. They don’t feed you here. Not even coffee. It's a motel. But it is a different kind of motel experience in a different sort of way. And if you’re not a “regular,” the vibe to some may be a little too much like “home,” of being intimately in the midst people you barely know--from Ohio.

This is a family owned, 1960's era MOTEL with approx. 16 rooms, and has a small restaurant directly next door. There's indoor and outdoor eating that boasts a great view. The motel has its own private docks for their guests and a pool.

It's located on 9140 Gulfshore Dr, and corner of Vanderbilt Beach Rd. N. Naples,FL 34108. (239) 597-2551.

We come to Naples several times a year and have stayed at many of the resorts and hotel ie.The Ritz-Carlton, The LaPlaya, Vanderbilt Inn, The Registry(back in the day!), and some private homes and condo's. But for the last several years we continue to go back to the Lighthouse.

The rooms are a nice size, with livingroom, dining area, king bed room , and the full kitchen, full bath, are furnished with everything you'll need. There are window a/c units in the one bedroom and could be a problem if you're sleeping hot in livingroom and cold in bedroom!

This motel has been so successful because the owners and on site managers run it as their home, (since it is), and keep it clean...inside and out! This is not party central, so don't come here expecting drunken, all nighters and jumping off the balcony into the pool type thing. It's not going to happen.

The people that vacation here feel like its OUR home too.
There are MANY REGULARS that come back year after year and stay for months.
The location is excellent! You don't pay for hotel parking.
You are a short walk, just cross the street, and you are on the beach. No driving involved.

There's a nice little family owned Palm Beach Cafe within walking distance, right next door. They have a delicious selection of breakfast, lunch, pizza, ice cream, not too pricey.

Be sure and visit The Turtle Club directly across the street for some beach front dining and drinking. The view is breath taking and so relaxing.

This is a beautiful and quiet place across the street from the beach. We had a large suite with full kitchen and what a great deal this was. It was so quiet and relaxing. Being family owned the service and cleanliness is outstanding. We cannot wait to come back. Thank you again!
