The Setai has got most all of what is needed for a great hotel: Great location, nice and large rooms, great service, good food and good ambience. The style is very much Asian. The rooms are mostly facing the street if you do not have a suite. The building is somewhat odd with a a classic tall Miami-style building in the back facing the sea and an old art deco building in the front blended with contemporary Asian interior much like the Peninsula in Bangkok. The style is really Asia meets Europe as traditional Asian hotels does not look like this. Not all architects will love this place though. Inside, and around the pools, the design is very consistent. The interior designer will get full score, but the architect not so as the integration of new and old is poor. I like the size of the hotel; it feels like a 5 star boutique and not a large and noisy 5 star Westin! The complimentary bikes are a treat! Staying at the Setai will put you right where the action is, but still a couple a blocks away from the noise!
