I had a great stay in January for three nights. Truly relaxing.
Walking into the lobby, you immediately notice the subdued earth-toned decor rich in texture and the perfect mix of scale. Nothing about this place says "corporate/group meeting hotel". I arrived early and the front desk could not have been more accommodating and friendly.
My room was on the sixth floor and very large. Upon walking in, it is a long corridor leading to the bed area. First, on my left, I had a well-appointed walk-in closet with safe and coffee machine. Then, further down the hall, a big bathroom with deep tub/shower combo and generous sink. The bedroom area is very spacious with a sofa/coffee table set-up closest to the window.
The view of the beach is so nice - looking out onto the bustle of Ocean Drive and the palm trees and tons of blue ocean. Staying on Ocean Drive, you have to accept there is going to be noise. For the tradeoff though, you can walk to everything: beach, shops, restaurants. The nightly party next door is loud, but it ended every night around 10:00pm.
In the morning, they set up a very nice coffee station in the lobby. Generic pastry/muffin plate, some whole fruit and coffee/tea. As I'm an early-riser, it was nice to be able to grab a cup of coffee before my boyfriend woke up and we went to breakfast later in the morning. Had room service a couple of times, all delicious and well-prepared.
Sat by the pool one afternoon and it was quite empty which was fine for me. There is poolside drink service, which is all that I needed. Another day I went to the beach and the hotel has complimentary chair/umbrella service for their guests with one of the places right across the street. Service was easy and more than adequate. Only wish that we could order drinks/food, but not a big deal.
I had a wonderfully relaxing stay and would recommend to anyone who wants a grown-up atmosphere on South Beach.
