I would never choose to stay at South Beach for its trashiness and party noise. But since I was forced to, I was very glad it was the Tides Hotel that we chose in this touristy area, surrounded by beautiful art deco buildings.
The hotel is quiet, thank god, even though the next door restaurant tries to destroy the piece at all times of the day. Lobby is very pretty (this is an iconic deco building), room big with a walk-in closet (very nice) and the pool is small but secluded. I used it only in the dusk and had it all to myself. Internet connection was wireless, free and slow.
All the luxury and amenities are what you would expect for the very steep price you pay, and unfortunately it just seems that the whole area is a rip-off town but the Tides is the lesser of the evil.
