With a name like Tumi, I was looking forward to dining at this restaurant. Traveling from BRaton, enroute to a movie in Pompano, we decided to have dinner at Tumi. It would be my co-worker's first time eating Peruvian food. Instead of looking forward to the dinner with elation, I was so disappointed to be given re-heated lomo saltado. The fries were dry, the meat, typically flambeyed in seconds, had a chewy bite. I do not think I have ever eaten re-heated lomo at a restaurant. I have eaten poorly made lomo before. But this one was both - reheated and poorly made. It was a huge turn off. I would have been better off cooking this fresh at home. I doubt I will return to a restaurant that cannot even bother to pour love into the neals of their diners.

As for the service, it was great! Too bad the food was the opposite. Our waitress, Charito, did an excellent job. I believe that is her name. At least that is what it says on the receipt.

Additional Info - Located inside a busy plaza. Would benefit from having Peruvian flag or something more eye grabbing because it is hard to find this eatery.

I had seen a television review regarding this Peruvian restaurant and I looked forward to experiencing the exotic delights myself. Instead of ordering from the regular menu my husband and I were tempted by the "Earlybird Special" insert in the menu, which seemed liked a good value. All offerings were $12.95 including beverage and dessert. My husband ordered the steak, and I ordered the seafood linguine. We ordered house white wine, (sauv. blanc). The service was prompt, but there were only three other tables with occupants. They were generous with the wine, meaning a small glass filled to the top.I ordered a salad as part of the EB special and it was average. My husband loved the beef soup that came in a small cup. The two rolls in the basket were tasty and fresh, so we thought we were in for a treat. However, my husband's steak had some tough areas, and he ordered fries but got a baked potato--no problem though about that. When I got my dish it had one mussel, a few tiny scallops, three shrimp, about six thin squid rings and the rest of the seafood was cut so small, pencil eraser sized, it was difficult to determine what the bits were. A mild-tasting red sauce covered the linguine. For dessert there were two choices: ice cream and chocolate cake. Nothing special, except the small size, about the desserts. I would like to try this place again and order from the regular menu to see if what the television review was accurate about the delicious Peruvian entrees. I wouldn't order from the Earlybird menu again, because it wasn't any different than most of the diners in the area.

This is a high quality - mid-priced restaurant that serves really good authentic Peruvian food. I was skeptical initially, but was very pleased. Would go there again.
